Daughters of the King

By

“He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left . . . The King will reply, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Then he will say to those on his left, “Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels”“ (Matt. 25:33, 40-41).

Ouch.

These tough words reveal the urgency of Jesus” admonition for His love to be expressed in tangible acts of compassion to those in need—so much so that severe eternal consequences await those who turn a blind eye to these needs.

This begs three important questions of every committed believer: “How can I possibly remain so self-focused in the midst the vast needs around me?” (Translation: “Do I really need that iPhone 6?”), which then forces the question, “Am I more of a sheep or a goat?” Or even more telling, “Am I more motived by my desire to be a loyal and yielding sheep or by my fear of being a cursed and condemned goat?”

Women and children in developing countries face daunting challenges when they wake up each morning. Children—especially girls—are often denied access to good education because their families can’t afford to send them to school or need to keep them at home to help the household. Husbandless women are often forced into prostitution simply because they are left with no alternatives to support themselves or their children. Any ministry concerned with the pain and suffering of those who are unable to defend themselves against the world’s injustices MUST focus a deliberate portion of its efforts on underserved women and their children.

As you’ll read in the following pages, the Alliance family takes great joy in coming alongside women left to fend for themselves in hostile surroundings. We do so not out of fear of God’s wrath but rather out of the delight that comes with spending the overwhelming overflow of His love, mercy and grace on these dear “daughters of the King.”
