From Age to Age

We Will Reach People of All Ages

By

In 1990, Christian strategist Luis Bush coined the term “10/40 Window” to refer to the geological region of the eastern hemisphere located between 10 and 40 degrees north of the equator, where the largest group of unreached people live. Since then, missions agencies, denominations, churches, and individual Christians have pulled together to reach the 10/40 Window.

In 2009, Bush urged a new missional focus: the 4/14 Window, which refers to a demographic age group. In the United States, nearly 85 percent of people who make a decision to follow Christ do so between the ages of 4 and 14. The window of opportunity is huge.

Watch how the Alliance is reaching kids with the good news of Jesus!

Church, we need you. The passing on of faith to the next generation is our responsibility. All of ours. Whether you’re 102 or 2, we need you to start being the church. Our kids don’t need a great program, great teachers, or a great building; they need us. They need us, as the church, to walk with them, do life with them, pass on faith to them. They need to hear our stories of faith and failure, hope and disgrace. They need us to remind them that even in the deserts of life, our God is the God who saves.

Kids need adults who don’t underestimate them. They need adults who pass on faith and believe they can change the world and point others to Jesus. They need adults who realize they have a huge capacity to understand and love Jesus. They need adults who refuse to assume and are willing to listen to their stories. They need us to step it up and stop underestimating them.

God doesn’t base a child’s ability to love and serve Him on age. Why should we?

I made the biggest, most impactful, most life-altering decision of my life at the age of five. Five! I knew nothing about theology, the Trinity, or the beauty of an atoning sacrifice. I simply wanted to know Jesus and be part of His family. That was enough.

The call is before you; what you do with it is up to you. My prayer is that you will join me in rescuing this generation of kids. My prayer is that you as the church will have new eyes to see what is before you. Most of all, my prayer is that you will continually and consistently depend on our never-missing, never-late, never-frantic, and never-changing God. This 4/14 Window will only be reached by us first yielding ourselves to Him. The call is there; what will you do?

We Will Reach

While He who is “not willing that any should perish” calls us to take His loving message to everyone, the Alliance family is being called in particular to prayerfully seek to reach:
  • People on the Move: The world’s population is shifting and nations are coming to our neighborhoods. Is our church fully participating in this unprecedented opportunity to share the gospel?
  • People of All Ages: Has our church been guilty of seeing children, the disabled, the senior adult, or anyone as less important than everyone else?
  • People Lacking Access: As 4,075 peoples are still to be reached, have we joined the Alliance family in taking seriously our assignment to participate in bringing the gospel to them?
