General Bylaw Changes

The General Bylaws of The Christian and Missionary Alliance require that notification of any proposed Bylaw amendments, or a summary of the changes to be affected thereby, shall be given within the time and in the same manner as notification of the meetings of the General Council. More specific information is presented in the Report of the Corporate Secretary to General Council and can be accessed on the Web site (www.cmalliance.org) on or after April 24, 2015. Following is a listing of specific Bylaws to be amended and a summary of the changes to be affected by the amendment proposals.

A recommendation will be brought to amend Article I, Statement of Faith, Section 1.11 (page A2-2), of the General Bylaws of The Christian and Missionary Alliance. This amendment will define the word “premillennial” in the section on the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. If adopted, this will also require the adoption by 2017 General Council, verbatim.

A recommendation will be brought to amend Article V, Members, Section 5.1, Classification, Qualification, Privileges, and Election of Members, B, Accredited Members (pages A2-4-5), of the General Bylaws of The Christian and Missionary Alliance. This amendment would address votes by proxy delegates for presidential elections.

A recommendation will be brought to amend Article VI, General Council, Section 6.2, Basis of Representation to the General Council, under A, Accredited Delegates (page A2-6), of the General Bylaws of The Christian and Missionary Alliance. This amendment addresses a separate category of accredited delegates (referred to as accredited proxy delegates) for presidential elections.

A recommendation will be brought to amend Article VI, General Council, Section 6.3, Accreditation of Accredited Delegates (pages A2-7-8), of the General Bylaws of The Christian and Missionary Alliance. This amendment addresses revisions to provide for proxy voting by delegates for presidential elections.

A recommendation will be brought to amend Article VI, General Council, Section 6.4, Voting Rights (page A2-8), of the General Bylaws of The Christian and Missionary Alliance. This amendment addresses revisions to provide for proxy voting by delegates for presidential elections.

A recommendation will be brought to amend Article VI, General Council, Section 6.8, Proxies (page A2-9), of the General Bylaws of The Christian and Missionary Alliance. This amendment addresses revisions to provide for proxy voting by delegates for presidential elections.

A recommendation will be brought to amend Article VI, General Council, Section 6.9, Quorum; Manner of Acting, paragraph A, Regular Meeting (page A2-9), of the General Bylaws of The Christian and Missionary Alliance. This amendment addresses revisions to provide for proxy voting by delegates for presidential elections.

A recommendation will be brought to amend Article VI, General Council, Section 6.12, Nominations and Elections (pages A2-12-13), of the General Bylaws of The Christian and Missionary Alliance. This amendment would add a new paragraph C, Presidential Nominations regarding the process and eliminates floor nominations for president.

A recommendation will be brought to amend Article VI, General Council, Section 6.12, Nominations and Elections (pages A2-12-13), of the General Bylaws of The Christian and Missionary Alliance. This amendment would add a new paragraph D, Presidential Elections.

A recommendation will be brought to amend Article VIII, Officers, Section 8.2, Election, Authority, and Duties, A, President (pages A2-20), of the General Bylaws of The Christian and Missionary Alliance. This amendment would make revisions for presidential elections.
