Revelations

By

As a people passionate about telling the world about Jesus, we wrestle with the reality that some will never hear the good news preached in their homeland. And we lament the religious and political barriers that block our access to them.
But the Spirit of the Lord will not be blocked, nor can His revelations be kept hidden. In parts of the world where the gospel cannot freely be proclaimed, people are having vibrant dreams about Jesus and waking up with a pronounced longing to pursue Him. Here’s one example from page 31:

A woman shared a dream in which her late father visited her. For an Arab, that is like an angel or a voice from heaven. “Daughter,” he told her, “we Arabs are seeking God, but Christians are in the hands of God.” Now she, her husband and her family are followers of Jesus.

This story, like many we receive from Alliance workers in creative-access countries, demonstrates how a single dream can alter the course of generations who have been walking in darkness for centuries—which reminds me of another dream story about a man named Joseph:

. . . But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins. —Matthew 1:20–21

May our Christmas dreams come true. Not the ones about sugarplums dancing in our heads; the ones about multitudes dancing around the heavenly throne, celebrating the One who came to save them from their sins. To Him be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!
