Simpson University

Gateway to World Service

By

Simpson University is a Christ-centered learning community located in beautiful Northern California. Founded in 1921, Simpson remains true to its motto of “Gateway to World Service,” which was and is lived out in the 20 percent of our student body that served on global WorldSERVE missions teams in 2015–2016. Simpson’s campus Strike Teams, a student-led initiative, logged nearly 2,000 hours in community-focused service during the 2015–2016 academic year as well.

Three of our popular majors—Nursing, Teacher Credentialing, and Accounting—have nearly a 100 percent career placement record, and most of our majors have a direct path to employment within the discipline and/or graduate school.

Our small class sizes and safe residential community offer the flexibility to explore new interests and to engage and excel academically, socially, and spiritually in the context of a Christ-centered learning environment.

President of Simpson University

In 1972 I joined two of my brothers at Simpson College in San Francisco, California. We grew up in an Alliance church and had our hearts challenged at the annual missions conferences where missionaries shared stories of their work. We went to Simpson inspired to become missionaries, and what we received was a life-changing education. Two of us served in the pastorate, and one served as a missionary to Peru. In 1994 I had the privilege of returning to Simpson where I have since served the university in a variety of positions, including president.

I am pleased that Simpson University, founded as Simpson Bible Institute in Seattle in 1921, continues to embrace its historic motto “Gateway to World Service” as central to its identity and mission. Christ-focused, we remain committed to developing well-prepared graduates who are passionate about global service. Our invitation to students is to come “challenge your mind, ignite your heart, change your world.”

Our promise is to provide a high-quality education that is affordable (lower tuition, substantial financial aid), accessible (online, blended, face-to-face), achievable (student support and on-time completion), and applicable (up-to-date, in-demand, job-or graduate-school ready).
