The Alliance World Week of Prayer 2012
Events › World Week of Prayer 2012
Join The Alliance family from May 13-20, 2012 as we pray together using a model developed by Dick Eastman in his book The Hour that Changes the World.
This model—based on Jesus’ words, “Could you not keep watch with me for one hour?” —will help guide your time with God and add structure to your prayers.
-
The Plan
Resetting priorities
If the desire is to join Jesus and “watch with him for one hour,” we will need to re-arrange our priorities for the week. We will need to identify those “urgent” things in our lives that could be “fasted” in order to devote extra time to seek Jesus.
Fasting
Some suggestions of items that could be fasted are one meal a day, T.V., electronic media (the internet, facebook, twitter, e-mail), a hobby, reading the newspaper, magazines or books, or an hour of sleep.
For some, it may be difficult to find a full 60 minutes to spend in prayer. You might want to follow the practice of many in the early church by stopping several times throughout the day to focus on prayer. Consider taking 15 minutes at four different times in the day to pray.
Pray each day
Each day there are suggested Scriptures to pray using the Hour that Changes the World prayer format. Each hour is divided into twelve, five-minute segments—a method that easily engages the one praying and brings joy to our Father in heaven.
Be assured that your prayers will bring great pleasure to our Father, to our Beloved Bridegroom and to the Holy Spirit. They will also be filling with incense the golden bowls that the 24 elders and four living creatures are holding in heaven (Rev. 5:8).
May God bless you richly as you participate in this Hour that Changes the World.
