Pastor emeritus of Wooddale Church in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, where he was senior pastor for 35 years, Dr. Leith Anderson currently is the president of the National Association of Evangelicals. Leith speaks frequently at conferences, has traveled to all seven continents, and has been interviewed by numerous publications and broadcasts, including  the New York Times, Christianity Today, CNN, and more. For two years, he served under U.S. President Barack Obama on the President’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. Leith received his doctorate in ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary (Pasadena, California) and holds honorary doctorates from Cornerstone University (Michigan), Eastern University (St. Davids, Pennsylvania), and the Moody Bible Institute (Chicago, Illinois). Leith has authored or coauthored many articles and more than 20 books, including Dying for Change, A Church for the Twenty-First Century, and Praying to the God You Can Trust. He and his wife, Charleen, have four children and live in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.

Pastor Francis Chan is the best-selling author of Crazy LoveForgotten God, and Erasing Hell and host of the video teaching series “BASIC.” Francis is a church planter in the San Francisco area and recently launched with David Platt, a nationwide discipleship movement called Multiply. Francis received his master’s degree in divinity from The Master’s Seminary (Sun Valley, California). He and his wife, Lisa, have five children and are coauthors of the new book You and Me Forever: Marriage in Light of Eternity. Francis was a well-received speaker by more than 5,000 Alliance youth at LIFE conferences in 2010 and 2013.

Dr. John Stumbo is president of the U.S. Alliance. During nearly four decades of ministry, John served as a pastor, vice president, district superintendent, and evangelist before his election as president in 2013. John is the author of two books, An Honest Look at a Mysterious Journey (cowritten with his wife, Joanna) and In the Midst: Treasures from the Dark. Both chronicle John’s spiritual growth after having been stricken with a debilitating disease in 2008 that nearly took his life. John’s love for Jesus is reflected in his hunger for the Word of God, his exuberance for the Church, his joy for reaching the lost, and his spiritual leadership over The Alliance as a Christ-centered, Acts 1:8 family. His greatest delights as president are the opportunities to preach throughout the world and visit with frontline Alliance workers and lay people. John and Joanna have three grown children and one infant grandson.

Mrs. Joni Eareckson Tada is founder and chief executive officer of Joni and Friends International Disability Center and an international advocate for people with disabilities. A diving accident in 1967 left Joni, then 17, a quadriplegic. After two years of rehabilitation, she emerged with new skills, including painting with a brush between her teeth, and a fresh determination to help others in similar situations. Author of more than 50 books and radio host of “Joni and Friends,” Joni has served on the National Council on Disability and the Disability Advisory Committee to the U.S. State Department. She has helped guide evangelism strategies among people with disabilities worldwide as senior associate for Disability Concerns for the Third International Congress (Lausanne Congress) on World Evangelization in Cape Town, South Africa. Joni’s latest book, Joni and Ken: An Untold Love Story, was released in 2013. Joni and Ken have been married since 1982.

Pastor Charles Galbreath serves as senior pastor of Clarendon Road Church (Brooklyn, New York), as well as director of Field Education at Alliance Theological Seminary (New York City). He is a member of the Brooklyn Borough President’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Community Partnerships. Also, Charles is the treasurer for the 67th Precinct Clergy Council, a member of the Executive Committee for the Alliance Metropolitan District, and vice president of the C&MA’s Association of African American Churches. Charles received his undergraduate degree from Nyack College, graduating magna cum laude. He holds graduate degrees in divinity and theology from Alliance Theological Seminary and Princeton (New Jersey) Theological Seminary and, currently, is a PhD candidate at Fordham University’s Graduate School of Religion and Religious Education. In 2011, Charles was awarded the Young Alumnus of the Year Award at Nyack College. He and his wife, Flobien, have two children.

Dr. Mitch Kim is lead pastor of Living Water Alliance Church (Warrenville, Illinois), and teaches in the graduate school at Wheaton College. With extensive experience in the immigrant church, Mitch desires to raise up multicultural people as Kingdom workers in a globalized world. He helped to establish the Joshua Generation, a ministry to connect and equip youth workers to reach their generation for Christ. In 2010, Mitch participated in the Third International Congress  on World Evangelization (Lausanne Congress)in Cape Town, South Africa. Currently, he is coauthoring with G. K. Beale God Dwells Among Us: Expanding Eden to the Ends of the Earth, a biblical theology of mission from Creation to New Creation. Also, he has published Genesis: A 12-Week Study (Knowing the Bible). Of Korean descent, Mitch was born in southern California, raised in Tokyo, and lives in Naperville, Illinois, with his wife, Eunsil, and their three children.

For seven years, he was the director of evangelism at Willow Creek Community Church (South Barrington, Illinois). Currently, Mark is lead pastor at Christ Community Church (CCC) in Omaha, Nebraska. During Mark’s eight years at CCC, 2,000 people were baptized and four churches were planted in Omaha that have approximately 2,000 attendees collectively, growing the church by 40 percent. Mark and his wife, Kelle, have four children.

Mr. Michael Briggs is the executive director for the Chalmers Center for Economic Development at Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Georgia. Inspired by the Center’s formative work, When Helping Hurts, Michael joined the organization to lead its efforts in equipping churches with relational approaches to poverty alleviation. He spent eight years in the financial services industry before serving for two years as a missionary in Spain with Serge (formerly known as World Harvest Mission. Most recently, Michael worked as executive director for Third Millennium Ministries in Orlando, Florida. Michael and his wife, Kathryn, have three children and live in Lookout Mountain, Georgia.

He serves on several boards of directors and committees focused on prayer, revival, and evangelism. Dave has authored numerous books, including Forgotten Power: The Theology of a Praying Church, which will be released at Council 2015.

Rev. Bob Collins is the executive director for Alliance Chaplain Ministries and the federal ecclesiastical endorsing agent for The Christian and Missionary Alliance. Bob was ordained in the C&MA Central District in 1976. He served with The Alliance as an active duty chaplain in the U.S. Army until his retirement in 2003, upon which he was appointed to his current leadership position. Although Bob lives offsite, he is a National Office staff member, serving in the area of Church Ministries. Bob and his wife, Denise, live in Waco, Texas. The couple has three children and eight grandchildren.

As vice president for International Ministries, Dr. Tim Crouch oversees the worldwide missionary outreach of the U.S. Alliance. Tim and his wife, Shelly, served as Alliance international workers in Russia for 14 years, 7 of which Tim served as field director. In 2009, after Tim received his doctorate in ministry from Gordon-Conwell Seminary (South Hamilton, Massachusetts), he and Shelly explored opportunities for new Alliance ministries in former Soviet states. When The Alliance created the North and Central Asia Region, the Crouches were appointed as the regional leadership couple, a role they filled until 2014. Tim and Shelly reside in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They have four children.

Before joining The Alliance team as peacemaking consultant in 2013, Mr. Gary Friesen served for 17 years at Peacemaker Ministries—first, overseeing all mediation cases, then as executive vice president, and finally as acting CEO. After graduating from Willamette University College of Law (Salem, Oregon), Gary practiced law for eight years in Oregon, where he developed and led an innovative, church-based reconciliation ministry at Salem Alliance Church. In June 2014, Gary became the general counsel/assistant corporate secretary in the Office of the Corporate Secretary at the Alliance National Office. He is passionate about seeing people everywhere experience the redemptive power of the gospel in their relationships, beginning with himself, his wife, Laurel, and their four children.

Rev. Rich Gorman is board-certified with the Association of Professional Chaplains and is director for Institutional Chaplain Ministries for The Alliance. An Alliance Theological Seminary graduate, Rich has been a hospital chaplain and manager for 24 years. Currently, he works in a long-term care facility in Mountain Home, Idaho. In addition to his current duties, Rich serves on the National Red Cross Disaster Spiritual Care Board. His past assignments include 9/11 state lead in New Jersey, regional lead for the Katrina Hurricane response in Louisiana, and state lead for the Alabama tornadoes response. Also, Rich served on the Board for the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education.

Following a stint as editorial director at Christian Publications, Inc., the former Alliance publishing company, he moved into prayer ministry in 1995 and has been involved in the local church and the international prayer movement. Jon is author of several books, including The Power of Personal Prayer; founding editor of Pray! magazine; and former director of Prayer Mobilization for The Alliance.

Rev. Andrew (Andy) Kerr has lifelong experience as an international worker and in pastoral ministries in the United Sates. He was born in Bangkok, Thailand, where his parents served as international workers. Andy earned a bachelor’s degree in history at Nyack (New York) College. While at Nyack College he met his wife, Marilyn, and after completion of their studies, the couple moved to Beirut, Lebanon, serving with CAMA Services to assist the local Alliance church’s response to the needs of people caught in civil war. After returning from Lebanon, Andy earned a master’s degree in professional studies from Alliance Theological Seminary and pastored a church in Sparta, New Jersey. The Kerrs returned to Middle East, serving more than 2 years in Lebanon, and 12 in Jordan. Since returning to the United States, Andy has served in churches, district leadership, and, currently, as assistant vice president for Church Ministries at the C&MA National Office.

Ty and her husband, David, have been involved in full-time Alliance ministry for 30 years, serving in U.S. Alliance churches as well as internationally. Currently, they are on special assignment, pastoring the Evangelical Church of Bangkok in Thailand. Ty’s passion for praying the Word of God and equipping the Church to return to the spiritual discipline of prayer is the primary focus of her ministry. Her latest book, Pray the Word for Your Church, will be released during Council.

Rev. Tom Lance is the senior pastor at The Grove Community Church (formerly Victoria Community Church; Riverside, California), which he has attended since age 14. Tom and his wife, Carol, have served in the church since 1975. Tom earned a master’s degree from California State University, Fullerton, in physical education and a master’s degree in ministry from Pacific Christian College (now Hope International University; Fullerton). He earned a doctor of ministry from Trinity Theological Seminary in 2012 and received an honorary doctorate of divinity from California Baptist University in 2012. Victoria Community Church has grown from 75 people in 1975 to more than 4,000 today.

Tim and Rachel have two sons and live in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Dave and his wife, Elena, have planted two churches that have reached and baptized hundreds of people and reproduced multiple times. Dave played a key role in the development of northwest and southwest church planting. Dave and Elena have three sons.

Mr. Matthew Soerens serves as the U.S. church-training specialist for World Relief, assisting churches in understanding the complexities of immigration from a biblical perspective. Previously, Matthew worked as a Board of Immigration Appeals–accredited legal counselor at World Relief’s local office in DuPage County, Illinois, and with World Relief Nicaragua. He was one of 11 recipients of the White House Cesar Chavez Award in 2013.
Matthew is coauthor with Jenny Yang of Welcoming the Stranger: Justice, Compassion & Truth in the Immigration Debate. Also, he serves as the field director for the Evangelical Immigration Table, a coalition of Christian organizations of which World Relief is a founding member. Matthew earned his bachelor’s degree from Wheaton (Illinois) College, and a master’s degree from DePaul University’s School of Public Service in Chicago, Illinois, where he lives.

Rev. Mike Sohm grew up in a loving home, where church was an integral part of his family life. Mike put his faith in Christ the summer before he entered college at Mankato (Minnesota) State University and soon connected with the Navigators student ministry, where he met his wife, Nancy. They were married in 1979 and moved to Regina, Saskatchewan, where they attended Canadian Theological Seminary. The Sohms began international service with The Alliance in northeast Thailand in 1984. They returned to the United States in 1991, and Mike served as regional director for the Asia and Pacific Region. In 2006, he transitioned to Crown College, serving in several areas of leadership. Mike’s role as president of CAMA Services, the relief and development arm of The Alliance, began in July 2013. He has served on the Board of Directors of CAMA since 2007. Mike and Nancy have three grown sons: Caleb, Joshua, and Daniel.

For six years, Monty led church planting and leadership development efforts in the Southwestern District. He has ministered in a variety of pastorates and ministries in Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, South Dakota, and Oklahoma, where he now lives. Monty and his wife, Marita, have four children and four grandchildren.
