Great Commission Sunday
What is Great Commission Sunday?
It is a celebration of what God is doing through The Alliance and an invitation to the U.S. C&MA family to give an extra gift to the Great Commission Fund (GCF).
When should this opportunity be presented to our congregation?
You can select any Sunday in May to celebrate Great Commission Sunday. The important thing is to collect the special offering before the end of the month.
Do the funds we raise on Great Commission Sunday need to be kept separate from our church’s normal GCF giving? How should we designate this offering?
Each church will be credited for the amount given as part of its annual GCF contributions. Simply enter the amount given on Great Commission Sunday in the space on your church’s monthly remittance form.
How can we make a difference?
You are helping to fulfill Christ’s Great Commission every time your church reaches into its community with the hope of Jesus. A strong response to Great Commission Sunday will send new workers and expand ministries into new areas so that lost people can be brought to Christ.
What does “extra gift” mean?
A special gift above and beyond each person’s usual giving to the Great Commission Fund will help spend more Alliance missionaries and expand God’s Kingdom into new places.
What resources will we receive to promote Great Commission Sunday?
You will receive ONE mailing with quantities of bulletin inserts, two posters, and a DVD.
Can we be creative in promoting Great Commission Sunday?
Yes! Sunday school classes, small groups, or youth and children’s ministries can come up with ideas to promote Great Commission Sunday. This is an Alliance family event.
