Our world is changing at an alarming rate . . . Yet our struggle to adapt to a slow economy is nothing compared to a new reality unfolding halfway around the world. And workers funded by the Great Commission Fund are in the midst of it all.

They are waitingIn several North African countries, iron-fisted regimes are toppling like houses of cards. Not since the collapse of communism have we seen such a wide-open door through which to carry the light of Christ to such a spiritually dark part of our world.

How we respond to God’s call in this critical hour—through giving to the Great Commission Fund—could well determine how the gospel impacts those who have known nothing but oppression for decades.

Robert Jaffray with nationalsWill history repeat itself?

When challenged about funding an outreach to Southeast Asia at the height of the Great Depression, Robert Jaffray, who pioneered much of this work, responded:

“Many have asked, in light of today’s terrible economic depression, if we dare go forward in these new fields and start new works. Instead, we should be asking how, in the face of the command of the Lord Jesus and the miracles He is working in our behalf, can we hesitate for one moment?”

Because Alliance people rose to that call, millions of people in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam now follow Christ. Will we now rise to ensure that the people of North Africa are given the same chance?

Don't miss this opportunity! The Light that brings the change.

Great Commission Sunday 2011 gives us all an opportunity to take the light of Jesus to areas where less than 1 percent of the population knows Him.

Whether you’ve given to Great Commission Sunday in the past or have not yet had the opportunity, this is your chance to change the spiritual landscape of our world.

“The deepest need of people . . . is to know Jesus as their Savior, the One who loves them and died for them . . . We now face the greatest opportunity we have seen this century to bring the liberating truth of the gospel to more than 300 million people. Let’s not lose this chance. Let’s seize the day.

Pray.

The Alliance believes wholeheartedly in the power and necessity of prayer. We cannot “Live the Call Together” unless prayer is central to all we do—in our denomination, in our churches, and in our individual lives.
