AIDS Youth Ministry in Indonesia
This project facilitates AIDS education and counseling. Alliance workers in Indonesia have a youth outreach called Team Joshua, started in 1985, which has broadened its ministry scope to address the devastating problem of AIDS in Papua. An AIDS doctor there said: “In the next five to ten years, a generation of Papuans will die from AIDS if we don’t act now.” Team Joshua is meeting this need through AIDS awareness seminars, a hotline, and training on AIDS counseling. Plans include a youth center that will provide AIDS/HIV testing, education, and counseling.
