Naomi Whipple, former missionary to Laos, passed away in Santa Ana, California, on Tuesday, April 4 at the age of 95. Whipple was born July 29, 1910, in Allentown, Pennsylvania. From a young age, she felt called to missionary service. She graduated from the Missionary Training Institute in Nyack, New York (now Nyack College) in 1932 and married J. Walton Whipple in 1934. They were appointed as missionaries to Laos and served in that country from 1937 until 1963.
Whipple participated in both national and mission programs on the field and served as secretary and bookkeeper. When the Japanese occupied Laos during World War II, the Whipples were placed under house arrest. They retired in 1978. Walton preceded his wife in death in 1998.
