Simpson University Announces New President

The Simpson University Board of Trustees unanimously selected Dr. Larry J. McKinney to be the school’s next president. He replaces Dr. James Grant, who retired in April.

McKinney, a native of Farmington, Pennsylvania, has a bachelor’s degree in science in Bible from Philadelphia Biblical University, a master’s degree in educational ministries from Wheaton College, and a doctor of education in higher education administration from Temple University. He currently serves as executive director of the Association for Biblical Higher Education in Orlando, Florida. He previously served as president of Providence College and Seminary in Otterburne, Manitoba, Canada.

McKinney is recognized nationally for his work in the field of higher education, for his participation in the development and support of federal initiatives, and for his membership in various college and university associations. He currently serves on the board of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities and on the executive committee of the International Council for Evangelical Theological Education.

McKinney and his wife, Debbie (also a graduate of Philadelphia Biblical University), have been married for 34 years and have two married children. McKinney will start at Simpson in mid-August.
