Trusting God in the Path of a Volcano

The Alliance in Ecuador requests continued prayer on behalf of the people in the Riobamba area, where winds are blowing volcanic ash from the recent eruptions, causing decreased air quality and complicating already strained conditions.

Pastor Bladimir Guingla of the Pichan (Alliance) Church and his wife, Alicia, have decided to stay in Pichan to minister to the people instead of evacuating. The couple is especially concerned about those who don’t know Christ. Mike Welty, the Ecuador field director, reports that CAMA is sending money for relief efforts. “I asked Bladimir and his church board to dream about ways they could help people on a long-term basis,” said Welty. “One of my concerns is to find a way to assist them so they are not totally dependent on agriculture.” Welty thanked Alliance family members for their prayers.
