Alliance Missionary Dies

Rev. Howard F. Grossoehme, retired missionary to the Alliance Academy (Ecuador), went to be with the Lord on September 10, 2006, in Bella Vista, Arkansas. He was 75. Grossoehme, along with his late wife, Phyllis, served with The Christian and Missionary Alliance from 1988 to 1996. 
     Grossoehme attended Omaha University, St. Paul Bible Institute (Crown College), Bethel Seminary, Coe College, and Stout State University, earning degrees in theology, education and audio visuals. He also served with the army reserves for a short time. In 1952, he married Phyllis Melville, and they pastored for 30 years in various churches in the Midwest. For 27 of those years, Grossoehme also was employed in the Iowa public school system. Before retiring, both he and Phyllis served as missionary associates for eight years at the Alliance Academy in Quito, Ecuador.  
     He is survived by his second wife, Carolyn; sons Rev. Mark H. Grossoehme and John M. Grossoehme; daughters Mrs. P. Jane Caster (C&MA missionary to the Philippines) and Mrs. Martha A. Ackland; a sister, three brothers, 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. 
     Rev. Grossoehme’s memorial service was held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 12, at the Village Bible Evangelical Free Church, Town Center, in Bella Vista, Arkansas. Any gifts given in memory of Rev. Grossoehme’s can be given to the Great Commission Fund.
