After the 10-year anniversary celebration of NewHope Ministries, an Alliance outreach to Vietnamese refugees in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, soon to be retiring missionaries Rick and Beth Drummond confirmed that thousands of Vietnamese are totally unreached with the good news of Jesus. “The horrific practice of trafficking innocent girls continues,” they said. “There are many Vietnamese who have never heard of Jesus. A great work is being done, but there is still much to do.”
The Alliance church where the celebration took place was packed. Members from all the NewHope churches as well as NewHope C&MA missionaries and members of the Cambodian Evangelical Fellowship and the Khmer Evangelical Church participated in the event. “What a blessing it was to hear the choir sing God’s praise and realize that if NewHope had not come, there would be many in the choir and the audience who never would have heard of Jesus,” said the Drummonds. 
During their trip to Cambodia, the Drummonds also visited Haven of Hope, a home and school established by the Remember Nhu foundation in partnership with NewHope, to prevent young girls from being sold to the sex trade. Nhu was a star pupil at NewHope Evangelical School, which is run by Alliance missionaries. She trusted Jesus as her Savior while attending NewHope and was baptized. When she turned 12, her grandmother sold her to a brothel. For several years, C&MA workers prayed for Nhu. Today, at 18, Nhu is the first employee of the C&MA partner ministry.
