Alliance Launches Prison Ministry in Thailand

Many prison inmates in Northeast Thailand have expressed interest in knowing more about Jesus. “These contacts came through a radio ministry,” said Alliance missionary Norm Ford. “This is a real answer to prayer.”

TEAM Isaan, a C&MA missionary team, has begun regular weekly meetings in the prison. A group serving imprisoned women will begin in the weeks to come. A short-term medical team from the United States will minister at another prison on October 19.

Fourteen inmates are being evangelized and trained to teach and disciple fellow prisoners. They have many contacts in the prison that they can train in turn. Once a group of people comes to the Lord, members will start a church and train leaders to start other prison fellowships.

“This is an exciting opportunity that could lead to a movement to Christ in this prison and beyond as these men are released,” Ford concluded. “The real need is for local workers who can follow up on these individuals.”
