Village Children Respond to the Gospel

More than 200 children in Burkina Faso made decisions for Jesus during an evangelism trip led by Alliance missionaries to the village of Nimberla. “Large crowds came, and on the third night the floodgates opened as the youngsters responded to the gospel message that was preached,” said an Alliance international worker, who was ministering with his Alliance colleague.

The two men request prayer that the children will persevere in their commitment. “In this culture and setting, it is very difficult for children to remain [followers of Jesus] if their families are not taking them to church and helping them [to be true to Christ],” said one of the men. “As a result, kids easily slip through the cracks here. Pray that these children, whose hearts have responded to the truth, would grow in their faith.”

After the two preached, villagers kept saying, “Please come back! Don’t give up on us! We want and need to hear more before we can make a decision like this.” One of the workers said, “This is a typical response. There is a cost to be paid for following Christ in this environment. New Christians face persecution and are often cut off socially and sometimes exiled from their families because they choose to follow Christ. Please pray that God will draw many people to Himself. Also, pray for Pastor Marcel as he makes regular trips to this village.”
