Evangelizing Burkina Faso

Alliance missionaries spend much of their time deep in the heart of Burkina Faso, West Africa, conducting evangelistic campaigns in remote villages with names like Samorogouan and Siri, Sirasso and Bangaso. People who live in these areas have practiced animism and fetishism for hundreds of years. The concept of a living God and Savior, Jesus, is foreign to them. But God’s Word is making a spiritual impact in villages where the team takes His message.

In Siri, 25 people recently came to Christ. In the Kenedougou region, two Alliance colleagues are mentoring national pastors. Bangaso saw the younger brother of the village chief commit his life to the Lord, and Katana now has its first female believers. As one Alliance worker drove into the village of Temetemeso, his vehicle filled with singing believers, a crowd of nearly 300 children surrounded the vehicle, cheering and jumping for joy. “It was a sight I’ll never forget,” he says.

More than 1,000 people in Temetemeso attended several evenings of evangelistic outreach, interacting with each presentation. “This crowd was the most actively engaged of any I’ve seen,” the worker reports. When it was over, 25 adults and many children made decisions to follow Christ. “God is doing a tremendous work in this village,” he observes. “We have an invitation to come back as often as we can. Pray for the pastors who shepherd the believers in these villages regularly.”
