Return to Tataguine

By Evan and Jewel Evans, serving in Senegal

The Evanses are chaplains as well as dorm administrators at Dakar Academy, Senegal, West Africa; they also lead the Sunday worship team and oversee outreach programs and discipleship ministries for the school. The following adapted excerpt from the couple’s November newsletter details plans for a massive Thanksgiving weekend evangelistic outreach.

We have the privilege of returning on an outreach to the Tataguine area, November 26-28. Our group will be comprised of 160 people divided into 10 ministry teams. This is the largest evangelism weekend that we’ve ever planned, in part because joining us are 23 students and five adults from Faith Christian Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Tataguine is the area where we built a church during an outreach More than 80 people now attend this church, which continues to grow.

In the village where we conducted last year’s evangelism campaign, more than 100 believers now meet in a packed millet-thatch structure. Our teams plan to tear this down and lay a foundation for the new church building.

After working each day on the church’s new foundation, ministry teams will conduct outreach in six villages during the evening evangelistic campaigns. We are working hand-in-hand with the Alliance national church in Senegal, which will provide translators, pastors, evangelists, and children’s workers.

Pray that God will prepare the hearts of the people before we arrive there, our hearts as we prepare to minister, and that the Holy Spirit will break loose in power and set people free!

What You Can Do

The Evanses request specific prayer for:

  • Pastor Diouf-the lead national pastor in the Tataguine area
  • Travel safety
  • Good health for each of the 160 individuals participating in the weekend outreach
  • The logistics involved in feeding people and setting up camp

Give to Alliance Great Commission Ministries. In doing so, you partner with overseas workers, like the Evanses, to spread the good news of Christ’s love to the far corners of our world.
