The following is an adapted excerpt from an update by Dakar Academy staff members, Evan and Jewel Evans, reporting on powerful answers to prayer for last weekend’s school outreach.
Logistically, this was the smoothest outreach of all time for us. It was also the largest number of people we have ministered to in the course of a weekend—more than 8,500 people! In one evening campaign alone, about 3,000 people attended!
We asked you to pray that God would open the hearts and minds of the people in the Bikol area. We’re happy to report that more than 400 people indicated that they wanted to follow Christ! Thanks to your prayers, our students reported that they sensed the enabling of the Holy Spirit in powerful ways.
We also experienced God’s protection. We came across a terrible accident while traveling and were humbly thankful for His protection over our caravan of vehicles. When one of the trusses gave way, forcing the boys who were roofing to jump off of the church roof, we praised God for His guardian angels that kept everyone safe from injuries.
New Record Set!
Here are reports from the various ministry teams:
- The medical team treated, and individually prayed for, some 613 people.
- Our children’s team ministered to 2,000 people.
- More than 3,000 people were ministered to by the drama team.
- We made 630 mud bricks—by hand.
- Our foundation team finished digging and pouring the church foundation in record-breaking time.
Two Things You Can Do
- In your prayers, thank God for hearing the prayers of His people, that outreach logistics went well and many came to Christ. Pray also for the more than 400 new believers in Bikol to grow strong in their faith.
- Donate to Alliance Great Commission Ministries. In doing so, you partner with overseas Alliance workers, like the Evanses, to spread the good news of Christ’s love among those desperate for hope.
