Children Flock to Poipet (Alliance) Church

By Kandi Lay, serving in Cambodia

The following is an adapted excerpt from Kandi’s recent prayer letter.

With much rejoicing, the Poipet (Alliance) Church officially moved into its new building on January 23. We invited all the church groups to join in the celebration; the place was packed. One children’s teacher had prepared to teach that Sunday. We were shocked when more than 100 children showed up—obviously, we had to scramble to find more helpers and teachers. About half of the children were from the neighborhood where the new church is located.

God is certainly blessing the Poipet Church with lots children these days. Pray for the children’s workers as they accommodate the many youngsters and tell them about Jesus. Also, pray for wisdom and God’s direction for the Poipet Church during the transition to the new location. We still need a dependable caretaker and hope to have English classes for the 50-60 kids from the community.

Don’t grow weary in the good work of prayer. We need you for the work in Cambodia. Thanks for praying, and keep it up!

What You Can Do

In your prayers, praise God for drawing so many children to the Poitpet Church. Pray that they will be discipled and their parents will connect with the church.

Give to Alliance Great Commission Ministries. In doing so, you partner with overseas workers, like Kandi, to introduce people—young and old—to Jesus.
