“Missions begins and ends in worship”

The following is an adapted excerpt from the Fields’ newsletter. Jeremy and his wife Krista serve with Compassion and Mercy Associates (CAMA), the relief and development arm of The Alliance.
I have been reflecting this month on how little our world worships our Creator.
Many of my religious friends pray from time to time in the best way they know how. But I realize that although they’ve learned how to ask for things, no one has taught them how to worship—no one has shown them the glory of God.
This greatly saddens me. Of course, it also forces me to think about my own level of worship as a Christian: Does my spiritual life flow from a deep knowledge of who Christ is and what He accomplished—a knowledge that leaves me hungry for more? How often do I fall on my face before the glory of God—a glory that compels me to share it?
What You Can Do
Pray
“Prayer is the primary work of God’s people” is an Alliance core value. “It’s also an act of worship,” says Jeremy. “Not only does it express our ultimate dependence upon Him; it [also] confirms our desire to join Him in His plan and engage in the divine conversation that the Father, Son, and Spirit are already engaged in on our behalf!” Use our weekly Alliance Prayer Requests to join the worldwide Alliance family in praying for them.
Give
- Giving is also an act of worship! “Did you know most Christians tithe an average of 2.5 percent to their churches and that churches typically give 2 percent of their budgets to overseas missions?” Jeremy asks. “Consider sharing 1 percent of your income to glorify God among the nations this year!”
- Give to the Great Commission Fund (GCF) and support Alliance global team members who are pushing back the darkness as they introduce lost people to the light of Jesus.
