By Andrew Schaeffer, an Alliance international worker serving in Burkina Faso (originally published March 1, 2012).
You know that I have not hesitated to preach anything that would be helpful to you but have taught you publicly and from house to house (Acts 20:20).
Institut Maranatha (an Alliance Bible school in Burkina Faso) Director Prosper Sanou and I participated in Alliance Missions Conferences in the United States back in 2008.
In each church, Prosper recounted the pivotal role former Alliance missionary to Burkina Milt Pierce had in his conversion. “Papa Pierce would rise early and go from house to house in my village, greeting people and sharing the good news about Jesus.”
After Prosper finished sharing his testimony at Maranatha (Alliance) Bible Chapel in Horseheads, New York, Pastor Tom Allen turned to me and whispered, “That was the most powerful argument for missions I have ever heard!”
What a privilege it was last week to accompany the Pierce family back to Prosper’s village, where Milt and Nancy Pierce began their ministry in 1959. As we witnessed the joyful and tearful reunion, my wife, Esther, and I felt like we were watching a replay of Paul’s farewell to the Ephesian elders in Acts 20.
May our Lord Jesus help each of us to finish as well as Papa and Mama Pierce!
