GCF in Action

Altantsegtseg, called Altaa, is a hairdresser in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, and Richel and Melody Maraat, our colleagues from The Alliance in the Philippines, were her regular customers. They told Altaa that English classes are offered at the Grain of Wheat (GOW) Center, so she enrolled and had Christina Wahlen and Marilyn Maves as her teachers. During break, students would go down to UBean Coffeehouse and Roasterie on the first floor. Soon Altaa was not only coming to the GOW Center for the English classes but would also hang out at the coffeehouse, which she described as “a peaceful place.”
