By Cam,* an Asian migrant worker
Double-digit unemployment and underemployment are severe problems in North and Central Asia; millions from this region have migrated to a European city to find work. An Alliance team has formed house churches to meet the holistic needs of this marginalized people. Cam’s story is possible because Alliance family members have prayed and sacrificially given of their financial resources to ensure the light of Christ is taken to his people, who are from one of the last missions frontiers.
I’ve searched for God since my youth. While growing up, I thought that the predominant religion in my country was the only way. But I noticed that not everyone went to the local house of worship. In fact, I only went once. I felt that something was missing in my life, but I didn’t find it there.
I was seeking real truth.
“How Have I Lived without Him?”
In 2007 I moved to a European city to look for work. Several years later, I met some countrymen from my hometown who had known the true God for many years. We quickly became friends. I felt like I had been searching for them for years.
I never considered myself to be a sinner. But when I was introduced to Jesus Christ, I wondered: How have I ever lived without Him?
Created for the 2012 Great Commission Sunday campaign, this video shows how God is using Alliance workers to reach people like Cam from the North and Central Asia Region.
After repenting and giving myself to Him in October 2011, I started to notice positive changes in my life. I began to look at the world differently.
My wife also gave her life to Christ a week later, and I was so thankful for this. We began to attend a house church with our new friends.
Tears of Thanks
Soon after our conversion my wife and I had to travel to a neighboring country. We drove a car owned by my place of employment. But on our way back to the city, we were involved in a serious accident.
When we got out of the car, we saw that it was completely smashed. Yet, we didn’t have any cuts, scrapes, or bruises. We shouldn’t have survived!
My wife and I were so thankful to God that He had kept us alive, as we have two young children at home.
After the accident, and knowing that we were okay, I began to worry about the car. But two days later I received a call from my boss, letting me know that he had bought me another car for work.
I sat down on a wet bench and cried, amazed at how much God loves me.
I’m so thankful to God, who allowed me to meet the people through whom my eyes were opened to Him. Every day I’m grateful that I found Him.
