Trees Bear Health and Hope

The following story is based on a report from a CAMA worker.

God is being glorified in Battambang, Cambodia, through one of His creations—moringa trees. Moringa For Health (MFH), established by CAMA (Compassion and Mercy Associates, the relief and development arm of The Alliance), provides products derived from moringa trees that give health, hope, and meaningful employment to local people.

From its inception, MFH has been committed to train Cambodians to operate and own the business in partnership with CAMA and to use the company as a place for discipleship.  After harvesting the trees’ leaves, employees produce and sell moringa products, especially moringa leaf powder, which when added to drinks or sprinkled over food provides vitamins, minerals, and protein. All operational costs are paid from MFH sales, and profits are used for expansion and church-based ministries.

Empowerment and discipleship are central to the MFH ministry; full- and part-time workers are encouraged to live out their faith through ethical business practices, demonstrating honesty, quality service, and dependence on the Lord. Lives are being transformed as financial and spiritual needs of staff are met.

“Working at MFH has helped me to grow in my trust in God,” says one employee. “I can see that together as staff, we can be stronger ‘lights’ for Christ in the community.”

In addition to providing income and spiritual growth, MFH creates opportunities to share God’s message of hope with lost and hurting people—a reflection of CAMA’s mission to be light in word and deed.
