This week, the 20th World Cup, an international men’s soccer tournament, began. The people here are at fever pitch with excitement, which is heightened by being neighbors of the host country, Brazil.
Everyone is prepared for life to come to a screeching halt when the games begin, with many hopes riding on the final outcome. People here dream of a World Cup title.
With the World Cup as a backdrop for the next 30 days, we are walking into the fire on more than one level. This is an exciting season, but it is also a time when the enemy seeks to immobilize ministries. People may choose to forgo attending outreaches and other events in favor of watching the games.
Please pray for us during the next 30 days; your prayers release God’s favor over our ministries.
Specifically, pray for preparations for our English camp, June 30–July 11, which will take place during the World Cup tournament. This is a two-week afternoon program for first through sixth graders. Our team has been blitzing e-mails, Facebook, and schools, passing out fliers, and getting the word out. Pray that 60 children will register before June 25.
