As we’ve prayed and sought ways to meet the practical needs of Ebola’s suffering survivors, we are encouraged.
We’ve witnessed a church more than double in size because of its response to Ebola victims. We’re also pleased to report that last week’s (April 6–11) conference to help Guinean pastors meet the challenges of this virulent contagion’s aftermath was well received.
Honesty, Transparency
God answered your prayers in so many ways! Although Stephen was sick most of the week, God gave him just what he needed for each day. In addition:
- Sessions were compatible and well received, and the Lord clearly guided the pastors who gave morning devotionals perfectly suited to each day’s events.
- Afternoon discussions and activities provided additional insights helpful to mutual understanding.
- Delegates discussed honestly and frankly past problems with relief/aid distributions involving the church and mission, as well as how we can move forward in honesty and transparency to avoid repeating these problems in the future.
New Fervency for Evangelism
During the week, Pastor Emmanuel also taught passionately about reaching the unreached, which was inspiring.
Guinea’s church is primarily established among the forest tribes. Historically, mistrust between the forest people and the 85 percent of Guineans who follow West Africa’s predominant religion has curtailed believers’ motivation to share the gospel. Thankfully, this perspective has gradually changed in recent years.
It was wonderful to see God moving among the pastors attending the conference, who are now fervent to reach their countrymen with the good news. Again, thank you for interceding on behalf of Guinea!

Pray
- “The hard part begins now as the delegates put into practice what they have learned,” added the authors. “Please pray for them!”
- Use the weekly Alliance Prayer Requests to join the Alliance family in interceding on behalf of our teams in West Africa and worldwide, who often serve in challenging circumstances requiring Holy Spirit–inspired wisdom in demonstrating God’s great love to those who live in hopelessness and despair.
