On June 6, the New Life Center (NLC), an Alliance outreach in Ishinomaki, Japan, will host “Goodbye, Anxiety!”—its second “heart-care” workshop.
“By heart care, we are addressing people’s emotional and spiritual needs,” said Jill and Alan Kropp, Alliance international workers and NLC team leaders. The purpose of the workshop is to build relationships with people struggling with anxiety and to help them take practical steps toward wellness.
Two Japanese counselors will facilitate the event, offered in two locations in Ishinomaki—the epicenter of the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami. “One of them already is offering Christian counseling to a family we connected with through the workshop we hosted last fall,” the Kropps noted. “Following a recent session, one of these clients expressed a desire to know more about Christianity.”
The other counselor will join the NLC team part time to develop regular, ongoing outreach to residents through heart-care ministries.
“Thank you for praying these women onto our team!” said the Kropps. “Pray for the Holy Spirit’s guidance and empowerment and that God will use the workshop to help us connect with needy and spiritually open people in our city.”
