One of Bongolo Hospital’s key ministries is its eye clinic. About 70 percent of all cataract surgeries in the country of Gabon are performed in this medical facility, which also conducts other types of eye procedures.
Last week, a patient came to the clinic because of a small mass on the white of his left eye, hospital accountant Eric Hofman reported. (Eric’s wife, Wendy, is the hospital’s ophthalmology residency director.) “As the nurses were preparing him for surgery,” Eric noted, “the mass, which had been there for more than a year, fell away from the man’s eye.”
“This man credits God with his healing,” Eric added. “He is much encouraged in his faith and has spent the last several days sharing with other patients what God did for him. He has also been reimbursed for the cost of the ‘unnecessary’ surgery.”
