Approximately 200 people from Ohio and West Virginia came to Envision Cleveland October 10 to take part in a day of service called “Renew the City.” The event was in partnership with Grace Church (Alliance) in Old Brooklyn and the local Community Development Corporation.
“Brothers and sisters from every generation showed up and became the hands and feet of Jesus to the city,” said Brice Payne, Envision Cleveland site associate.
The group pulled weeds in two large community gardens, cleaned the streets of the neighborhoods surrounding the church, and finished some projects around Envision Cleveland’s team center. They also replaced a local pastor’s hot-water heater that had gone out the early morning of the event.
“This was a huge blessing to the church and community and has helped us to foster an even greater relationship with our city,” Brice said.
