Miracle at Sea Leads Refugee to Christ

Compassion and Mercy Associates (CAMA), a ministry of The Alliance, is partnering with a Christian NGO to run a refugee camp between Greece and Macedonia. Workers distribute food, water, blankets, and clothing to those moving from the Middle East to Western Europe. They also share the love and hope of Jesus.

While difficulty, pain, and hardship surround the people arriving at this camp, God’s power and provision is also present.

A CAMA worker recently shared a story about a man who was on a raft with about 35 other people, trying to make their way to Greece. While in the middle of the sea, the boat’s motor stopped working. For several hours they tried fixing it to no avail. The waves were getting larger, and night was coming. People began to lose hope, fearing certain death.

This particular man had heard that if you pray in the name of Jesus, He will answer. So he decided to give it a try. After praying in the name of Jesus, they tried to start the motor one more time, and immediately it began to fire up.

In response, this man vowed to himself that as soon as he met a Christian, he would ask him/her to tell him more about this Jesus.

A few days later, as he was getting off a train in Macedonia, a woman (from CAMA’s partner organization) approached him. In the crowded train station with hundreds of people, she knew that she was supposed to talk with him as soon as she saw him.

The woman told the man that she was a Christian and asked if she could pray for him. He then asked her to tell him about Jesus, which she did, and he prayed to invite Jesus into his life.
