Psalm 34:18 says, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
The Syrian refugee crisis is one of the world’s most crushing global emergencies. Alliance churches in Syria and throughout the Middle East—established decades ago by pioneer Alliance missionaries and those they discipled—are providing life-saving shelter and provision for those devastated and displaced by this catastrophe. Watch one example.
People On The Move
A veteran Alliance worker couple recently moved to a European city that has become a major crossroad for many Syrian refugees fleeing the violence of their homeland. This couple writes, “Syrian refugees have been crushed in every way—body, soul, and spirit. But there is hope for them if they put their trust in our loving God. This is why we do what we do! We will proclaim His love in word and deed to these displaced people who have lost everything. In doing so, may they find the most valuable treasure of all—Jesus Himself.”
Here In The States
Alliance churches, workers, and laypeople in the United States are banding together to help provide help and hope for immigrants and refugees struggling to establish new lives on U.S. soil. Raed Awabdeh, a Syrian whose grandfather was led to Christ by an Alliance missionary, emigrated to California in 1982. Today he leads the C&MA’s Arabic-Speaking Association (ASA). Read how the ASA is reaching Arabic-speaking refugees and immigrants for Christ and watch how the Arab-American Learning Center is providing tangible support to help them establish new lives.
