Dominican Youth Sold Out to Jesus

By Julie Stutler, serving in Dominican Republic About 280 teens and young adults from all over the Dominican Republic (DR), as well as a few from New York, attended the Dominican Alliance national youth camp at the end of August 2010. The event was held in a small country town and featured four days of [...]

Mountain Top Ministry

“The woman was suicidal,” says Guaren Long, administrative director and treasurer for Hillside (Alliance) Community Church in Wrightwood, California. “Honestly, counseling someone with such hopelessness was out of my realm, but I survived cancer 20 years ago and understood what it meant to be at a low point. I was not threatened by Mary’s* words [...]

Tornado Reveals the Hand of God

By Pastor Vaughn White, Wadena Alliance Church When an EF4 tornado hit the city of Wadena, Minnesota, on the afternoon of June 17, 2010, Wadena Alliance Church was thrust into an unexpected ministry. Winds of 170-175 miles per hour carved a half-mile-wide swath one mile south of the city that continued for several miles, causing [...]

A Commitment to Give

Editor’s Note: Having served as Alliance international workers in Dominican Republic for more than 10 years, John and Colleen Schleh have seen God’s power work mightily in the hearts and lives of the Dominican people. Following is a poignant account of faithful believers who gave out of their poverty, putting in everything—all they had to live on (Mark 12:44).

Back to School

At a time when believers in the United States are often discouraged from speaking openly about their faith in public settings, Alliance workers in Asia and Latin America have been welcomed into public schools to teach God’s truth. In Paraguay last fall, C&MA international worker John Sappia and his colleagues at the Mi Esperanza Alliance [...]

An Unexpected Partnership

by Rev. Karl Emerson, pastor of Nashwauk Alliance Church, Nashwauk, Minnesota Last fall I was invited to travel to the Middle East to explore partnerships that might develop between our church and the Arab Lands team. As I boarded the plane, I found myself wondering what God had in store. While other pastors on the [...]

More than a Motorcycle Ride

The roar of revved up motorcycles is deafening. A few dozen men, adorned in leathers and bandanas, are primed for a ride on their hogs. Curious residents in Hawley, Minnesota-a quiet bedroom community of 2,000 just 22 miles from Fargo, North Dakota-peek through blinds and step out on porches to see the cause of the [...]

Cliffhanger!

In 2003, Germany’s Field director couple Jerry and Shelly Kragt began ministry in one of the most spiritually dark places in the country—East Berlin, where Communism had erased all mention of God for decades. Through the Open Door Gemeinde church plant, the couple has seen many Germans come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. The Kragts and their team are making inroads through community outreaches, such as the Feinkost women’s ministry.

People Will Come

Stephen and Robin Boda planted Bridge of Hope Community (Alliance) Church in the heart of St. Louis, Missouri. Robin works full time as an education director for a local learning center. Stephen-who is full-time pastor, teacher, mentor, and outreach director- also works part-time as a janitor.

“We Don’t Want That Element”

Editor’s note: Community Church by the Lake’s ministries are made possible, in part, by the Alliance Development Fund (ADF), which has helped the church through tough financial times. “ADF is about helping churches,” says Pastor Don Foor. “Without ADF, we wouldn’t have the following  stories.”  “We don’t want ‘that element’ hanging around our church,” said [...]

Pray.

The Alliance believes wholeheartedly in the power and necessity of prayer. We cannot “Live the Call Together” unless prayer is central to all we do—as a denomination, as churches, and as individuals.

Give.

You can help build Christ’s Church around the world by donating online to the Great Commission Fund. This fund finances our missionaries, allowing them to focus on ministry rather than raising their own support.

Serve.

Is God calling you to full-time service? Do you want to experience missions firsthand by participating in a short-term missions trip? We want to help you connect your passion with God’s purpose.
