THE BALKANS: The Resurrection Center in Gjilan, Kosovo, needs additional space for the many activities there. Pray for God’s direction/provision/timing in finding a new location. FRANCE: Pray for the evangelistic outreach of the Trinity Church of Strasbourg, April 26-30, for follow up, and for continuing outreach to French speakers and English speakers. Pray that God will provide funds for Trinity International Church of Strasbourg to purchase larger meeting facilities. This multinational church has seen weekly attendance grow from a dozen to more than 100 people in two years (most of them French people) but has been able to rent only a dance hall for Sunday mornings.GERMANY: Pray for the provision of a German pastoral couple for Open Door Church in Berlin. The current missionary pastor will be leaving this summer, and the hope is to turn over leadership to a national pastor. Recently, the church interviewed a candidate and is in the decision-making process. Pray for wisdom, openness to change, and confirmation of God’s will. BLACK FOREST ACADEMY: Pray for 14 C&MA (12 U.S. and 2 Canadian) seniors who will be graduating in June. The return to their passport countries is similar to the culture shock missionaries feel when they first arrive on the field. Pray that the MKs will find the support they need when they make this transition and that they will lean on Jesus. ISRAEL MESSIANIC MINISTRY: A court case protesting continuous Jewish Orthodox harassment and violence against the congregations in Beersheba and Arad has been postponed until June. The Orthodox side is not cooperating with authorities, and the judge wants to downplay the national significance of the case. Pray for God’s intervention and protection. Pray that God will provide a protective covering and adequate helpers for a national summer camp ministry for Messianic youth. The Medallion (Hebrew literature) ministry needs increased financial support and distribution channels. Pray that God will provide. Almost every week, a drug addict or prostitute comes to faith in the Tel Aviv area. Effective follow-up and discipleship of these new believers is a pressing need. Pray for God’s direction. ARAB MINISTRY: Diana, the head deaconess for the churches, recently was diagnosed with Lymphoma cancer. Her first chemotherapy treatment began on April 2. Diana is maintaining a high and joyful spirit, which encourages those around her. A large part of the churches’ ministry is dependent upon her. Pray also for Diana’s family during this challenging time. Outreach to the majority demographic remains fruitful. Recent baptisms in the presence of family members have been especially encouraging. Pray that God will provide national and international workers to meet the needs for increased evangelism, discipleship, and fellowship opportunities. INTERNATIONAL MINISTRY: Pray that God will provide a full-time pastor for the two Chinese churches. Pray for fruitful outreach among the 15,000 Chinese contract workers in Israel who sometimes have beneficial contacts in the local communities. NORTH AFRICA: Pray for North Africa team members as they pursue God’s vision for a paradigm shift in the way they integrate the business and the ministry. God has shown them that the business itself is a tremendous opportunity to reach out to the whole country and reflect Christ. Pray specifically that God will give them wisdom and direction as they refocus their efforts. POLAND: Pray for ongoing contact and spiritual fruit after the pastors’ conference in April. Pray that the interdenominational contact and fellowship that developed since the last conference will continue and grow into new church-planting initiatives. Pray that pastors will challenge one another to accomplish the work of Christ in this great nation. Pray also that God will call new workers—pastors, church planters, and missionaries—who will bring the hope of Jesus to Poland. RUSSIA: Pray for staff members in Russia as they process new visas in April and May. There are many complicated tax implications and additional paperwork related to the types of visas that must be used. Pray for God’s grace and for seamless transitions to these visas during the summer months. SPAIN: Pray for our two missionary-led, Spanish churches in Tres Cantos (Madrid) and in Granada. Ministry among ethnic Spaniards is slow, but both churches are focusing directly on this task. The Tres Cantos team is busy preparing for its fifth English Camp ministry during the first two weeks of July. Ethnic Spaniards represent about 85 percent of the population of Spain. LATIN AMERICA REGION
ARGENTINA: Pray for Argentina’s government leaders. The political scene is stormy, and the economic outlook is becoming bleaker as inflation continues to increase. Pray that President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, her leadership staff, and the provincial governments will recognize God’s sovereignty in the affairs of men. Pray that they would make wise decisions. Buenos Aires Professional Project—Pray for the parenting classes that soon will be under way. Praise God for the new location for the church in Mendoza. Pray that the church-planting team there would make effective use of their new building in a way that will glorify God and grow His church. Also, pray that the building’s owner and her family would come to faith in Christ. Pray for God’s guidance as to how the San Isidro Project should continue. Steve and Claudia Irvin have accepted a call to pastor a church in Canada, with no other missionaries to replace them. Pray that God will provide funds for church property purchases in Corrientes where Bob and Sue Stern minister and Mendoza where Joel and Lynn McGarvey minister. BRAZIL: Pray for the growth of the church plants in Porto Alegre (Petropolis church), Caxias do Sul, São Paulo, Zona Norte, and Alphaville. Pray that they will impact their communities with the love of Jesus and that many would come to Christ through their ministry. COLOMBIA: Pray for the Cali West church plant as negotiations are under way to rent a large house for the church. Pray that the owners will accept what the church can pay and would allow the rent to go toward purchasing the house. Pray for the new church board elected in March. Pray for protection on their lives, families, and jobs. In the past, most of the board members have become busier and dropped out of this responsibility. Pray for the two women who are taking over Bev Boon’s ministries in the church. Mariet, who is studying missions at the Baptist Seminary, is leading the children’s ministries, and Amparo, a lawyer, is overseeing the discipleship courses. DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: Praise the Lord for the 177 students in the TEE (Theological Education by Extension) classes. Pray for the Marriage Encounter (ALMA) weekend, June 6-8. Pray that two couples— Arnold and Dorca and Leonardo and Petra—will attend and that God will restore their marriages and lead them to salvation. Pray for God’s blessing on the entire program and that He will be glorified. Continue to pray that God will provide property for the House of Blessing Alliance Church, The Encounter Alliance Cell Church, and Living Hope Alliance Cell church. ECUADOR: The national church’s Missions Department held its first recruiting meeting for Ecuadorian missionaries on February 9 with 60 candidates in attendance. Seven of those present indicated that they are ready to go as missionaries, and 13 indicated that they are still in the preparation stage and will be ready in the near future. The department’s goal is to send four missionaries this year and eight next year. Praise God for the missionary vision that is developing among Ecuadorian believers. Pray that the vision will continue to grow and that many Ecuadorians will respond to God’s call to go as cross-cultural missionaries, especially to the Muslim world. MEXICO: Pray for a smooth transition as the field director’s residence, mission office, and seminary facilities are moved to a more centralized, strategic area of Mexico City. Pray that God will lead them to an ideal location with ample facilities for these areas of ministry. Two churches that have been planted by missionaries have been turned over to the national church, but they do not have pastors and are floundering. Pray for godly Mexican leaders to move these churches forward. PARAGUAY: Pray for the ministry of Awana clubs in Paraguay, which are effective outreach tools in several C&MA churches. The new Marical Lopez church plant has a successful club reaching out to a neighborhood in Fernando de la Mora. The San Lorenzo church has more than 45 children attending Awana. Frequently, families will attend church with the children, since church attendance gives the children points. Some mothers have come to Christ through this ministry, and there is a discipleship group for mothers during the Awana hour at the San Lorenzo church. Pray that these women will grow in their faith. URUGUAY: After 22 years with no new church plants, the C&MA of Uruguay has asked Peter and Laura Marshall to accompany a Uruguayan couple to begin a new church plant. Pray that the church will have wisdom in choosing the right Uruguayan couple and that the mission will have wisdom in determining where to place the Marshalls. In partnership with the First Alliance of Erie, Pennsylvania, the Montevideo team is planning a businessmen's seminar in for June for Uruguayan professionals and businessmen from U.S. Alliance churches. Pray that God will choose the participants from each country and provide the final resources needed to truly do this in a first class way. This event will break down many anti-Christian prejudices that are barriers to these men and women hearing the gospel. ASIA/PACIFIC REGION
CAMBODIA: Pray for God’s blessing on the Rural Ministry Training Center for aspiring church leaders, scheduled to open on September 1, 2008. The Cambodian mission has been working closely with the Khmer Evangelical Church for many years to launch this strategic, residential training center that will help prepare young church leaders to serve among the 80 percent of Cambodians who live in a rural context. Many details still need to be worked out including fund-raising, completing basic buildings, filling two Khmer staffing positions, and selecting quality students. Pray that all of these details will come together in time for the September 1 start of classes. JAPAN: Pray for the two-day strategic planning workshop being held May 19-20. An outside strategist will be leading the field through a review of its master plan. THAILAND: Pray for God’s guidance and clear direction in establishing a church in every sub-district of Thailand by 2010, which is the goal of the national church plan. Pray for more cooperation between churches and missions organizations. CHINA MINISTRIES—CHINA: Pray that God’s Spirit would move in the hearts of the emerging generation. Pray that He will raise up leaders to reach out to young people faced with the pressures of materialism and challenging social issues along with millions who have yet to experience God’s grace. Pray also that new believers will be grounded and trained in the Word so that they will be able to stand against the growing influence of cults. AFRICA REGION
BURKINA FASO: There has been a harvest of souls in the Kenedougou region of Burkina Faso. Following up on all of the new believers is quite a challenge for the missionaries and pastors working in this area. Also, local residents are becoming alarmed at the number of people turning to Christ. Pray that these new believers will be discipled and formed into churches for the glory of God. CÔTE D’IVOIRE—FATEAC: Pray for wisdom and the gift of teaching to train Africans to know and apply the Word of God. Pray for insightful and Spirit-filled teachers, capable and wisely chosen students, and sufficient funding. Pray specifically for partnerships to provide capital so that FATEAC may become financially independent. Pray also for JJ Bakoukou, from Gabon, who needs a scholarship for Ph.D. studies. He would be a welcome addition to the faculty and bring the seminary closer to having a primarily African teaching staff. GABON: Pray for Tim and Meredith Brokopp who are arriving in Gabon May 2. They will be directing short-term ministry teams that start arriving in June to work with the Gabonese Alliance church and Bongolo Hospital ministries. Pray for their adjustment, understanding of language and culture, and financial provision. Pray for Steve and Alace Straw and family as they complete their French studies. They are planning to join the Gabon team in August. Pray that God will provide for their needs (including the airplane) in an aviation ministry that will service Bongolo Hospital. Pray that the Gabonese government will continue to respond favorably in working out the details that will allow the Bongolo Hospital HIV/AIDS clinic to purchase the medicines and laboratory equipment needed before starting to treat patients. Praise God for the many seropositive pregnant women and their newborn babies who already have received medicines and have heard the gospel message. Praise God for the hundreds of people who have received Christ as their Savior through ministry at Bongolo Hospital this year. Pray that they will become strong disciples of Jesus Christ as they return to their home towns or villages. MALI: Pray for the outreach to the Bozo fishermen of Mali. Bara Kase gave his life to Jesus last year and has been discipled by the Bozo Ministry Team. Joe and Maria Howard, who are going on home assignment in June, have been ministering in Sofaraba among this needy people group for many years now. Recently, a young man named Ali also gave his life to Christ. Pray that he will stand firm in his faith. Pray that God will protect these new believers and that others will give their lives to Christ because of their testimonies. During the month of April, the Bozo Ministry Team is visiting each of the courtyards in Sofaraba one more time to present the message of God’s love and to call them to accept Jesus as their Savior. Pray that the walls of tradition and fear will be broken down and that there will be a mighty harvest among the Bozo of Mali. REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO: Pray for smooth transitions as missionaries are arriving and departing to and from the field with little overlap. Also, pray for ongoing prison ministry and discipleship programs. SENEGAL: Pray that C&MA church planters will be attentive to the leading of the Holy Spirit as they build relationships that will impact Senegal, a country with few viable churches among the Wolof people group despite nearly 100 years of missionary activity. NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER
(taken from the National Day of Prayer Web site) MILLIONS WILL GATHER TO HONOR GOD Dr. Ravi Zacharias will help lead this nation in prayer as the 2008 honorary chairman of the National Day of Prayer Task Force. Through the efforts of the Task Force, more than 35,000 prayer gatherings will be conducted by approximately 40,000 volunteers across the country. Several million people are expected to participate in this call to prayer for our nation, its leaders, and citizens. This is a critical time to be in prayer for America. The biblical principles upon which our country was founded are coming under attack in every segment of society. Yet despite this troubling trend, we can take heart in the knowledge that God hears and responds to the earnest cries of His people. In one of my favorite psalms, 28:7, David makes this confident declaration: “The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped.” What a comforting reminder that God is indeed the source of all power, guidance, and protection. It is with this in mind that we chose for our 2008 National Day of Prayer theme, “Prayer, America’s Strength and Shield.” It is tremendously heartening to know that you are standing with us as we call this great nation to prayer. Thank you for devoting yourself to this cause, and please know that we are remembering you before God’s throne as we work together to spark a nationwide revival of prayer and repentance. — Shirley Dobson, Chairman 2008 PRAYER FOR OUR NATION In a world where so many are hurting, In a world where so many are lonely, In a world longing for peace, Yet, we are so stubborn and resistant. Our nation is at a crossroads this year; Please give us the guidance to elect one who will honor you and to respond to the wisdom from above so that our hope may be renewed and our blessings be treasured. IN GOD’S HOLY NAME
CAMA
CAMA BURKINA: Pray for the implementation of the training offered by CAMA in community health evangelism and biosand filtration. Both have the potential for making a significant physical and spiritual impact in the various West African countries that we work in. After malaria and AIDS, the next biggest killer in Africa is disease caused by contaminated water. This simple but effective filtration system will save lives and significantly improve quality of life for many in the rural areas where we work. CAMA GUINEA: Hope Clinic is receiving numerous requests for craniofacial surgery. The staff is unable to handle these surgeries without a craniofacial surgeon and a night nurse to provide postoperative care. Pray that God will bring such individuals to Hope or expedite an agreement with Mercy Ships to handle these cases. CAMA MONGOLIA: Praise God for a seekers’ core group, and pray that more would come. Ask God to reveal Himself. INTERNATIONAL FELLOWSHIP OF ALLIANCE PROFESSIONALS (IFAP): MISSIONARY CANDIDATES: Pray for missionary candidates who will be going through the process of being considered for appointment with IM. They are filling out paperwork and taking tests in preparation for their interviews this summer. GLOBAL VENTURES: Pray for college-age students ministering with Global Ventures. Many are completing cross-cultural internships required for graduation. They are serving in 11 countries, some for six weeks and others for up to one year. Pray for their field coordinators as they partner with these students in discerning God’s plan for their future. UNITED STATES

HUMAN RESOURCES: Pray for discernment in hiring a director for HR. Pray for continued development of an effective volunteer program. ALLIANCE INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION Pray that every student will have an opportunity to be involved overseas during his/her time at Crown. Pray for new ways to keep a high-quality Christian education affordable for families. NYACK COLLEGE/ATS: Pray for a “Miracle in Manhattan.” There are more than 1,000 students at the Manhattan Campus, and they need a permanent campus. Pray for our graduates as they go from Toccoa Falls College to impact their world with the love and message of Jesus Christ. Pray for the ministry of our traveling team “Rejoice” as its tours all summer in churches across the East Coast. Pray for Dr. George Durance who will speak to our graduates at the Commencement ceremonies at Toccoa Falls College. Pray that the Lord will use him to challenge and encourage our graduates to greater service for the Kingdom. Praise the Lord for His guidance and direction on the college. DEVELOPMENT EDITORIAL/DESIGN OFFICES: Pray for the Lord’s creativity and clarity of thought as writers and designers seek to reach the lost through branded, engaging communications pieces such as missions conference materials, Faith Promise, G.C. Sunday, and Year-End appeals. VIDEO OFFICE: Pray that logistics and travel arrangements for the video team will fall into place for the upcoming trip to Europe. Pray that the Great Commission Sunday video segments will touch the hearts of Alliance people and cause them to be more involved in C&MA missions. Pray for creativity and physical stamina as team members produce videos during the coming year. MARKETING: Pray that we can effectively connect with churches on God’s calling and purpose for The Alliance. CHURCH MINISTRIES Pray for smooth transitions in the Candidate Development and Missions Mobilization offices as Carl McGarvey and Ralph Trainer assume new ministry roles. Praise God for their 17 and 8 years of effective service, respectively, at the National Office. Praise God for refreshment and refocusing during several district conferences that already have concluded. Pray for the remaining conferences, especially those that will be dealing with difficult district issues and will need the help of the Holy Spirit to maintain unity. Pray for a spirit of revival and renewal in our districts and our churches. Without the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, we can accomplish nothing! Pray for the more than 133 new church plants in various stages of development. Pray that hundreds of new converts will come into the Kingdom through these churches. Pray for the district superintendents as they lead their districts in mission. They are key leaders who deal with difficult problems and are major targets of the enemy. Pray for the coaching and pastoral health initiatives under way in many districts. They are critical to our success in developing healthy leaders for every C&MA church. Pray for the many C&MA churches that have not seen any new converts in the last year. Pray that God will grant to them a new passion for lost people and a willingness to make needed changes to reach out to them. Lost people matter to God. He wants them found! Pray that God will raise up an army of people committed to fervent prayer for evangelism in their communities and for the worldwide ministry of The Alliance. Prayer is the primary work of the people of God. Pray that a spirit of sacrificial giving will once again become a key identifying mark of Alliance churches and people. Everything we have belongs to God. We are only stewards. Pray that God will give great favor to second-generation church planters throughout our movement and that established and new churches will be effective in reaching segments of our population that are currently under evangelized and unreached. Pray that God will mobilize a new army of laypeople within Alliance churches who have a passion to reach the world for Christ. Completing the Great Commission will require the mobilization of every fully devoted disciple. Praise God for a physical touch that has enabled John Soper to walk again without a cane or crutches. Pray that God will grant continued health and strength to maintain a rigorous travel schedule. ADULT DISCIPLEMAKING MINISTRIES: Recent books and seminars are sparking a new interest in disciplemaking among prominent mega-churches in the United States. Pray that we will be able to respond to the unique challenges of this new movement among our larger churches. Pray for discernment and wisdom as we prepare a new edition of Safe Place, designed to advise churches about the ethical, legal, and environmental issues involved in ministry to kids, youth, and adults. Ask God to enlarge and strengthen the emerging adult disciplemaking networks among campus ministries, stewardship trainers, and ministries to older adults. CANDIDATE DEVELOPMENT: Pray for the hundreds of young men and women in Alliance churches who are sensing God’s direction toward vocational ministry in the United States and around the world. Pray for pastors and church leaders as they seek to identify, coach, and encourage those upon whom God’s call to service is being confirmed. Pray that the C&MA will effectively receive the handoff of potential workers from local churches. Pray that regional representatives would be discerning, caring, and candid in their relationships with applicants and potential workers from the churches and assist them in getting the training they need to be effective. Pray for the final stage of decentralization of our candidate development efforts. There will no longer be a Colorado Springs-based director. The regional representatives will divide duties formerly handled by the director with one of the reps serving as the national director along with regional responsibilities. Pray for the new director for Candidate Development, Rev. Doug Bortner, as he assumes responsibilities this summer. Pray for the other regional representatives—Rev. Jim Hoobler, Southeast; Rev. Mark Lynch, Western; and our newest representative Rev. Trent Thornton in the Midwest—as they assume great responsibility under the new model. Pray for good ministry placements for the new candidates being accredited for ministry in the United States and overseas. Pray for the new Global Ventures Praxis program being launched as a platform for 20- somethings to engage in a year of meaningful ministry outside the United States. CHAPLAINS: Pray for men and women seeking God’s guidance concerning military and institutional chaplaincy. Interest in chaplaincy ministry is increasing. 2007 was a good year for the C&MA to have new chaplain candidates apply and be accepted into Federal Chaplain Candidate programs. These allow men who are preparing for the military chaplaincy to enter the reserves and receive training in chaplaincy while in seminary and in preparations through their districts. Pray for district leaders as they work to incorporate these men into their district planning and training. Pray for Rich Gorman and Bob Collins as they travel to district offices and conferences to coordinate with and interview applicants. There continues to be a significant increase in partnership in this area. Pray that Alliance chaplains will take advantage of opportunities to partner with Alliance missionaries, colleges, and seminaries around the world to assist in new chaplain ministries as they emerge. Pray for Chaplain (CPT) Mike Newton as he serves in Korea while his family is in the States. Continue to pray for Penny and the children as they wait for his return. Pray for Chaplain (CPT) Erik Gramling as he starts his second deployment in three years, this time to Kuwait. Michelle and the children are in Germany and need prayer as well. Pray for Chaplain (MAJ) Steve Moser (just promoted) as he deploys to Afghanistan. Rayanne and the children will remain at Ft. Campbell and would appreciate prayer. We ask God for complete healing for these women, who have blessed others in so many ways. Pray for Kerry Lambert who is fighting colon cancer. Pray for his wife, Mary, and their children. Chaplain Rich Gorman’s father has been diagnosed with esophageal cancer. Pray for Rich and his family as they trust God in this. Pray for Chaplain Don Twist and his family. Pray for God’s protection during a particularly difficult time. Pray for several men who are awaiting word as to when they will go on active duty. We believe God will allow this to happen this year. Chaplain Chuck Anderson (U.S. Navy—active duty) and Chaplain Jim Park (U.S. Army Reserve) will retire this year after serving faithfully for many years. Pray for Chuck and his family as they seek God’s guidance as to where they are to do ministry. Pray for Jim Park as he continues his ministry at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia. This position is not connected to his Reserve Chaplain status. Jim has an outstanding ministry among staff and cadets. We thank our Lord for His continued faithfulness and care for our chaplains and their families. CHILDREN’S DISCIPLEMAKING MINISTRIES: Pray for a strong passion for children's ministry and reaching lost children in the hearts of every pastor and leader in the C&MA. Pray for encouragement and guidance from the Holy Spirit for local C&MA children’s pastors and district children’s leaders. Pray for Alliance children to develop a passion for serving the Lord and a commitment to grow in Christ every day in 2008. CHURCH LEADERSHIP ACADEMY: Pray that the local and regional schools of ministry, using the Ministerial Study Program curriculum, will train people for ministry, in Manahawkin and Vineland, New Jersey; in the Western Pennsylvania district; and in Bakersfield, California. Praise the Lord that the Life of Christ training materials have been translated into the Jarai language. Pray that they will be used effectively to train Montagnard people in the United States as well as in Vietnam. CHURCH MULTIPLICATION MINISTRIES: Pray for an increase in the number of new churches being planted throughout the United States. Pray for the increasing number of second-generation multicultural church plants that are emerging. Pray as we integrate the New Official Workers Forum with the Strategic Multiplication Training (sXt) and the Growing Healthy Church Certification training this June and again in August. INTERCULTURAL MINISTRIES: Pray for the elections of new superintendents for the Cambodian, Spanish Central, and Spanish Eastern districts that will be held in April and June. Pray that the right leaders will be elected to lead these districts to the next level of ministry. Pray for the dozen new church plants that are currently in the incubation stage of development as they strive to reach out to ethnic minorities among the next generation of Cambodian, Hmong, and Vietnamese. Pray that these church planters will be encouraged and able to recruit key leaders as members of their core group in order to launch services in the near future. Pray for ample funds to partner with geographic districts to reach out to the hundreds of thousands of recent immigrants from Somalia, Eritrea, and Ethiopia who have migrated to the United States as refugees. LEADER DEVELOPMENT AND ADMINISTRATION: Pray for transitions in the Church Leadership Academy as efforts are made to enhance the effectiveness of the program. Jesus said to pray for workers to be sent into the harvest fields. Pray that the Lord will provide skilled and godly pastors for churches in the United States and for district superintendents as they place workers in appropriate spheres of ministry. LIFE IMPACT MINISTRIES: Pray that the 150-plus students who will attend the Bible Quizzing International Finals in July will catch the vision for entering into full-time service to touch lives for the Kingdom. Pray that as the new 2010 LIFE executive team members begin to plan for LIFE 2010, they will have the mind of Christ in creating a balanced, twofold experience to promote personal spiritual growth and to challenge students to become involved in the worldwide ministry of the C&MA. Pray for members of the Life Impact Ministries team as they begin to plan General Council 2009. Pray that every detail will bring the focus to the selected theme as we gather as the Alliance family to celebrate all that God is doing. Pray that the senior adult constituency will be challenged to look beyond retirement to use their many gifts to promote the worldwide ministry of the C&MA. MINISTRY PARTNERSHIPS: Pray that strategic Kingdom advances will occur as local congregations and districts connect with Alliance workers in needy regions around the world to form long-term partner relationships. Pray that North American pastors will catch the vision of leading their congregations into active partnerships involving care, strategic prayer, financial resourcing, sending short-term teams, and ongoing relational connections. Pray that churches considering partnerships will soon finalize their commitments to these strategic projects and workers. MISSIONS MOBILIZATION: Pray for Ralph Trainer as he transitions from his responsibilities as assistant vice president for Missions Mobilization to executive director for Beulah Beach Conference and Event Center in Vermilion, Ohio, this summer. Pray for John Soper in his search for leadership for Missions Mobilization. Pray for the assignment of fall tour missionaries. Pray that God will provide the appropriate leadership for these locations. YOUTH DISCIPLEMAKING MINISTRIES: Pray for the youth office as it transitions to a new director, Jason Ostrander. Pray for God’s guidance in exactly how to spend both time and funds. Pray that the youth office will not be run by programs but by a strong dependency on God. Pray for the burden on the youth director’s heart for the spiritual health of Alliance youth pastors and lay leaders. Pray that we can know how to minister and care for them appropriately. Pray for leadership teams to be developed for Encounter and LIFE 2010 events. Pray that God will give vision and direction as to how each of these events should go. Pray for the appointment of new personnel in the district to lead various ministries. EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA DISTRICT: Pray for new church plants in Lock Haven and the Wissinoming area of Philadelphia. Pray for the district’s twelve regional coaching facilitators. Pray for the reproduction of healthy churches. GREAT LAKES DISTRICT: Our March 2008 District Conference in Thailand had a significant impact on every participant. Our goal was “to interface with the Thai culture, C&MA missionaries, and C&MA ministries, to position ourselves where God can break our hearts over the lostness of man and impress upon each one of us how He wants us to respond.” Pray for a profound sense of God’s leading as we each respond to this experience. The federal government is helping 25,000 Iraqis move to the United States. They are being relocated to Warren, Michigan, only 1 miles away from our Arabic Evangelical Alliance Church! Pray for God’s powerful intervention as this congregation of more than 150 people (representing every country in the Middle East) reaches out to these new immigrants. HMONG DISTRICT: Pray for the Hmong District’s commitment to plant four churches in 2008. Pray that God will provide more pastors for Hmong churches. Pray that God will raise up much-needed next-generation pastors to serve next- generation churches. Pray for continued strengthening of the missions partnerships in many of our churches, which is the result of the October 2006 District Conference where delegates visited 14 missions locations in Europe and the Middle East. Pray for wisdom to respond to the many opportunities for church multiplication throughout the district and particularly among intercultural peoples. MIDWEST DISTRICT: Pray for the people of the Midwest District to be on a Mission, to be and do what Christ desires. Pray that an ever-increasing number in each church may live a lifestyle that exemplifies
NEW ENGLAND DISTRICT: Pray for us as we continue to apply an enhanced, one-on-one coaching model for pastoral leadership development. We are dependent upon God’s empowerment on both sides of the equation—for those who serve as coaches and those on the receiving end. Pray that New England pastors and their congregations will experience the Life of Christ more deeply, understand the Call of Christ more fully, and serve the Kingdom of Christ more effectively. Pray that our pastors will be empowered to motivate their people for maturity and mission to lead them beyond where they are now to become the best versions of the persons God has made them to be. Pray that God will enable New England district leaders to help our people understand that
NORTHEASTERN DISTRICT: Pray for God’s leading in the revision of the district mission statement and the development of core values and the district strategic plan. Ask for God’s blessing on our churches from Barrier Breaking seminars that have been developed and presented around the district by Rev. Jon Martin, director of Church Health and Multiplication. Pray that efforts to establish a missional mindset in our churches will be well-received, understood, and embraced. Pray for plans by the Kenmore Alliance Church to daughter a church in Buffalo, New York, in partnership with the district. Pray for our district conference, June 9-12, with the theme, “Living the Call Together: Got Health?” The focus will be on the physical, spiritual, financial, and family health of our workers. NORTHWESTERN DISTRICT: Pray for new converts and other interested believers for two church plants that are under way in Baxter and Hibbing, Minnesota. Pray for renewed vision to reach back into the urban area of Minneapolis-St. Paul with the gospel. Three churches, two of them young congregations, are ministering creatively there. Pray for healthy pastors and healthy churches as a result of new initiatives in church health. Several churches are seeking property for relocation or for their first building. Pray that God will provide funds needed to place them in the best setting for maximum ministry impact. PACIFIC NORTHWEST DISTRICT: Pray for the churches we, as a district, are building in China. Pray for two church plants: Crossroads in Juneau, the capital of Alaska, and Lifehouse in Portland, Oregon. Both are being planted in areas very resistant to the gospel. Pray for the development of our Alliance Discipleship School ROOTS. The first session will start in July 2008 for young adults who will train for three months in Portland, Oregon, and three months overseas. The purpose is to create missions- minded individuals equipped and passionate about making Christ known. Pray for the continued strength and growth of our Next Generation Ministries in the district and the many youth who are impacted by it. ROCKY MOUNTAIN DISTRICT: A year ago the Alliance family prayed for Randy Baker, pastor of our church in Plains, Montana, as he fought colon cancer. He has completed treatment, and the last blood test showed him to be cancer free with a declining tumor count. Praise God! Continue to pray for grace for him as he copes with extreme pain in his feet and lower legs due to damage from the chemotherapy. Pray for the churches in redevelopment that are seeking to become faithful in ministry. There are encouraging signs of turn-around in several of them. Pray that their pastors and lay leaders will have wisdom, faith, and courage as they seek to reach their communities for Christ. Pray for our district conference going on during this Week of Prayer. We are seeking the Lord to further mobilize us to accomplish His Great Commission, here, there, and everywhere. (Acts 1:8) Pray that the peace of Christ would continue to spread throughout the district as we seek to become churches with a culture of peace, employing the biblical teachings of Peacemaker Ministries. Pray for the launch of a coffee shop and church in Missoula, Montana. Scott and Jenny Klaudt are leading this effort. Pray for the myriad of preparations that will go into pulling this sort of endeavor together—including raising $150,000. Pray for generous, visionary donors. Pray that God will give people a passion for church planting, which requires sacrifice and risk-taking. We have closed far more churches than we have planted in the last two-plus decades. Turning that around will come by God’s grace, our faithfulness, and a willingness to take faith-filled risks. SOUTH ATLANTIC DISTRICT: Pray for a sense of urgency in each church as we seek to complete Christ’s Great Commission within our sphere of influence and responsibility. Last year the Alliance family prayed for the newly replanted church project in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. This year we can praise the Lord for the many good things He has done—God is answering our prayers. More than 60 attended the church’s Christmas outreach dinner. Recently, three individuals embraced Jesus as the forgiver of their sins and the leader of their lives. Pray that God will continue to show Himself strong in and through this Body of believers as they continue to reach out to their community in Jesus’ Name. Pray for the many local church leaders in our district whose churches are stagnant or declining. Pray that complacency will give way to a fresh faith and a renewed vision of God’s purpose for these churches. Pray that His people will step off the maintenance treadmill and more effectively penetrate their communities with the good news. Pray that the newer church plants (11 in 2007) experiencing good initial growth would develop C&MA multiplication/missional DNA. Pray that they, along with the other 21 church plants started since 2005, would take steps in reaching their areas of influence with the gospel so that every man, woman, and child has had a repeated opportunity to hear, understand, and respond to the offer of reconciliation to God. Pray for Renovation Center (church-planting coaching cluster) at Summit Church in Greenville, South Carolina, as pastors and leaders meet with Dr. Dwight Smith of Infinity Alliance. We’re seeing some exciting church-planting projects. Pray for the upcoming Southeast Regional Strategic Multiplication Training (sXt) in Orlando in June. Pray that our planters will catch the Alliance DNA. SOUTH PACIFIC DISTRICT: Pray for the continued church-multiplication efforts with an emphasis on Arizona and the Hispanic population. Pray that the new partnership with Mexico will be firmly established on a strong foundation. Pray also for the district conference May 5-7 and the district superintendent election. SOUTHEASTERN DISTRICT: Pray that a new strategy to revitalize our “critical care” churches will result in missional impact with an empowering of the pastoral leadership of these churches. Pray that the five church plants launched in the first five months of 2008 will have continued effectiveness in reaching new people with the gospel. Pray for the Southeastern District as we gather for our Centennial District Conference, May 5-7. Pray that God would move on the delegates with a fresh spirit of connection and multiplication of disciples, leaders, churches, and sent ones. SPANISH CENTRAL DISTRICT: Pray that the Lord would empower our pastors to walk in the fullness of His Spirit as they lead their congregations to the deeper life of Christ as they seek to impact their communities with the love of our Lord and Savior. Pray for the manifest presence of the Lord in every church service so that all who enter would come under conviction and seek a personal and intimate relationship with the Lord. Ask the Lord of the Harvest to send more workers and, in particular, church planters who are greatly anointed, gifted, devoted, and willing to sacrificially serve the Body of Christ. Pray that the Lord would enable us to raise up lay men and women who are committed to holiness and who serve out of a heart of gratitude. Pray that the Lord would guide district conference delegates during the election process for the new district superintendent. WESTERN GREAT LAKES DISTRICT: Pray for Pastor Brian and Jen Faught as they lay a foundation and gather the launch team for a new church plant initiative in LaCross, Wisconsin, for fall 2008. WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA DISTRICT: Pray for the 11 church plants that are striving to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to their communities as well as supporting global Alliance missions. Pray for the revitalization of leaders and churches that are entering into the Church Refocus Tract so that they can more effectively fulfill the Great Commandment and Great Commission. Pray for official workers who are participating in the Issachar Coaching Clusters. Our ultimate goal is to produce healthy, Christlike servant leaders who are intentionally reproducing themselves in others, resulting in an ongoing multiplication of leaders. Pray for John Bradley (founder of IDAK) as he ministers to official workers and key lay leaders at the district conference (April 29-30). He will be instructing the delegates in “Maximizing Your Team By Maximizing Your God-Given Talents.” Pray that delegates will return to their places of ministry revived, refreshed, and equipped to further fulfill the Great Commandment and Great Commission. OPERATIONS/FINANCE EMPLOYEE BENEFITS: Pray for wisdom to create and maintain benefit plans that will meet the needs of pastors and missionaries while still remaining affordable. Pray that God will protect and provide for participants in the Fellowship Fund retirement plan. OPERATIONS AND BUSINESS SERVICES: Pray for a smooth transition as the fulfillment of C&MA promotional material will be outsourced to a third-party vendor (Xarisma) beginning May 1. TECHNOLOGY: Pray for wisdom as Technology Group staff members maintain and support critical systems. Pray for God’s protection over our networks, systems, and computers. Pray for God’s guidance as we provide customer support to staff within and outside the National Office. ALLIANCE DEVELOPMENT FUND: Pray for God’s continued wisdom, direction, and protection as new strategies, products, and services are developed to keep ADF’s growing ministry strong and effective. SUPPORT MINISTRIES
THE ORCHARD FOUNDATION: Pray that God will miraculously meet the financial needs of The Alliance and that the budget will be fully funded through June 30, 2008. Pray that there will be a generous response to the Great Commission Sunday offering and that our church and donor relationship managers will connect well with the constituency as they seek to build relationships and fund Kingdom work. RETIREMENT CENTERS ALLIANCE COMMUNITY FOR RETIREMENT LIVING (ACRL): Pray for wisdom as we face the challenges in the preparation of the 2009 fiscal year budget. Pray for the sale of the homes of those who desire to move to ACRL. CHAPEL POINTE AT CARLISLE: Pray for the expansion of our spiritual ministry efforts. Pray for our resident pastor, Walt Frankenberry, and our director of outreach, Jonathan Doty, as they seek to impact not only residents but also staff and visitors. SHELL POINT RETIREMENT COMMUNITY: Pray for ongoing skill and wisdom as Shell Point navigates occupancy challenges caused by the recent housing recession. Pray also for ongoing ministry opportunities to residents and employees alike. TOWN AND COUNTRY MANOR: Pray for wisdom on behalf of our skilled nursing staff as we approach the annual survey, for the chaplains as they serve the residents and staff, and as we begin the environmental section of our expansion. Pray that God will provide the needed staff. |
