“Jesus Only” has long been considered as the “unofficial” hymn of the Alliance. Written by C&MA founder, A.B. Simpson and J.H. Burke in 1873, Alliance church member Xavier Castellà recorded this timeless hymn as an updated trumpet solo. Xavier is a popular performing artist in Chile and has performed worldwide with a variety of musical artists. He and his wife, Anna, had lost their only son just two years prior in the Great Fire of Chicago in 1871. After serving to help the homeless during the two years that followed, Spafford decided to take his family on vacation in Europe. They were to go to England to join Dwight Moody and Ira Sankey on one of their evangelistic crusades, then travel in Europe. Spafford was delayed by business but sent his wife and daughters ahead with the intent to meet in England. Their ship never arrived and Horatio received a telegram from his wife, with only two words: “saved alone.” Spafford boarded the next available ship and he and wife finally met up with Moody. “It is well,” Spafford told him quietly. “The will of God be done.” This beautiful hymn is performed by Xavier Castellà.  Emblem – Nieves/DíazIn 1987, the song “Emblem” was written to commemorate the centennial celebration of the Alliance. The song reflects the vision and mission of the Alliance: the gospel of Jesus Christ and His Great Commission. Written by Pastor Samuel Nieves and sung by Mr. Rubén Díaz of Iglesia Alianza Sinai, “Emblem” was recorded in 2005 and made available to the Spanish churches on CD-ROM.
