Reveal
The bulk of coaching time is here. From the coach’s perspective, this is the search for What is God doing in this person’s life?, Where is He working?, Where is he leading this person?, and How has he built him/her? Avoid giving advice. As Robert Logan puts it, “One of the cardinal rules of creative writing is, ‘Show, don’t tell.’ Likewise, one of the cardinal rules of coaching is, ‘Ask, don’t tell.’ Never tell people something they can discover on their own.”
