Rancho Murieta Community Church Executive Pastor Job Description Church Overview: Rancho Murieta Community Church is a mid-size church located in a beautiful setting of open spaces, rivers, and vineyards. We are on a steady growth track and envision an ever increasing reach into our region. At RMCC you will experience a supportive and enthusiastic work environment. We value a commitment to “team” and believe our work is a reflection of our faith in Jesus Christ. We currently lease space for our gatherings and anticipate breaking ground within a year to build a multi-million dollar facility. Our future facility will include a state of the art worship center, a multi-purpose activity center, Kids Quest space, Student Ministries space, and administrative offices. General Description: The Executive Pastor is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of church staff, leading all functional areas in the accomplishment of the church’s mission. This includes outreach, worship programming, pastoral care, group life, student and children’s ministry areas as well as strategic planning, finance, administration, human resources, and operations. Objective: To provide day-to-day leadership and direction for staff and volunteers of RMCC by working closely with the Senior Pastor to understand and implement vision, values and key objectives of the ministry. Essential Job Functions: 1. Support the Senior Pastor in the accomplishment of the church’s mission through ministry effectiveness, evaluation, discernment, decision making, planning and overall direction of church staff. 2. Lead the ministry staff in the establishment and ongoing direction of ministries that effectively reach the church’s demographic, ensuring the accomplishment of the overall mission. 3. Ensure the operational readiness of the church through leadership and oversight of the support staff performing duties in administration, finance, human resources, supply, and facilities management. 4. Facilitate the annual strategic planning process including evaluation of ministry performance; review of mission, vision, and core values; development of key objectives and tactics; and establishment of annual goals. 5. Develop annual financial plans that fund the accomplishment of the strategic plan and meet critical financial objectives such as established cash reserve levels. 6. Champion the development of infrastructure by all ministry and support areas that supports healthy, long-term growth of the church. Core Responsibilities: • Provide day-to-day management and oversight of staff • Manage budget process and ensure accountability to budget throughout the year • Set key metrics to monitor health and growth of all ministries and regularly review (create dashboard and similar tools to measure regularly) • Maintain consistent focus on performance plans ensuring plans are implemented and reviewed regularly • Work with Building Committee on building project; function as staff liaison with builder/contractor • Conduct weekly staff meetings and consistently provide direction and coaching to team • Oversee facility systems and use • Attend Board meetings as necessary to provide operational and staffing updates • Perform other duties as assigned. What We Are Searching For: This role requires strong administrative giftedness, along with excellent verbal and written skills, so the successful candidate must possess the ability to think creatively and innovatively regarding how to help the local church and its staff as effectively as possible. The successful candidate must be a ‘strategist,’ progress and results oriented, and capable of turning ideas into action. As the chief-of-staff, this individual will be responsible for accountability, development, and coaching of the staff team. They will be highly solution-oriented, so as to encourage, equip, and empower the staff to perform at their best. As the primary overseer of ministry design and implementation, they will be an orchestrator of systems and pathways that strengthen and sustain the effectiveness of each ministry. Qualifications: Although education is not a predetermining factor for the selection of the Executive Pastor, a bachelor’s degree in a related field would be preferred. The scope of competencies for this position will include, but are not limited to: • Executive level experience in comparable organization(s), ministry or professional. • Possess experience in leadership development, team building, delegation, and organization/administration.
