Dickey Lake Bible Camp Managing Director Position This Year-round position works with a skilled group of volunteers and seasonal paid staff to meet the great commission to bring people to Christ and to grow in faith. The successful candidate will exhibit a clear commitment to Christ and His principles of servant leadership. Expectations include year-round management of all aspects of camp operation, potential for expansion and fund raising. Based on selected applicants experience, a progressive job description will be put in place with steps of accomplishment and growth measured. Send resume to: email@example.com Position Description for Managing Director of Dickey Lake Bible Camp and Retreat Center: PRIMARY PURPOSE The primary purpose of the position is to provide, via servant leadership, management oversight and ministry excellence in all aspects of camp operations. Specifically, the DLBC Managing Director: • Develops strong relationships with associated churches, pastors, volunteers and camp supporters through personal contacts • Builds long term partnerships, with current and new users to ensure economic stability • Is responsible to support and carry out the Board of Directors (BOD’s) established policies and procedures • Leads the implementation of the current Strategic Plan/Vision for Dickey Lake Bible Camp (DLBC) • Provides leadership and direction for staff • Promotes active and broad participation by volunteers • Ensures consistent day-to-day administrative and financial operations of the camp are met • Keeps the BOD informed of camp operation by providing a monthly written report CAMP OPERATIONS • Oversees all aspects of camp operations including: o Compliance with federal, state and local laws, and regulations o Food service o Facility and ground maintenance o Camp security o Camp store management o Health and safety • Ensures program development is relevant to the culture, complemented by the outdoor camping experience, and meets the DLBC mission statement of “Making Disciples for Christ” • Works closely with all established BOD teams • Ensures that recruitment and training of qualified staff is occurring in a timely manner • Is directly responsible for the marketing, scheduling, and management of the camp rental program o Ensures rental agreements and contracts are fulfilled BUSINESS MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION • Is responsible to maintain official records and documents • Develops annual budget, along with the board treasurer, for BOD approval • Assures that camp expenditures remain within the approved budget • Oversees summer camp administrative duties (i.e. registrations, scholarships, communications…) • Develops position descriptions for all staff positions, completes regular performance evaluations and ensures that sound human resource practices are in place • Works in close coordination with the camp treasurer to ensure there is fiscal accountability and soundness and that biblical stewardship principles are followed FUND-RAISING, PROMOTION, MARKETING • Works with BOD fund-raising team to provide leadership for the operational needs and capital investment projects of the camp • Seeks to maintain full camp occupancy during camping season • Develops contacts with numerous individuals, organizations, and churches for the purpose of fundraising • Markets the camp at local and regional seminars and meetings • Responsible to develop and expand DLBC into new markets • Organizes and supervises many different types of fund-raising events • Actively seeks grants appropriate to Christian camping and promoting Christian values POSITION QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS MUST INCLUDE • Embody biblical servant leadership • Be a mature Christian who is in good standing in his/her local church • Be a licensable C&MA worker and attend a local C&MA church • Have strong management and organizational skills and abilities • Have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with strong presentation skills • Have a high level of skill with a variety of computer programs • Maintain residency in the home on the camp property • Be self-motivated and manage time well DESIRED • Previous camp and/or youth leadership experience • Completed a Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree or Theology Degree with 5 or more years of experience in a managerial or ministry leadership role (experience in lieu of education acceptable) • Have experience in fund-raising strategies and procedures SUPERVISORY CONTROL This position operates under the direct supervision of the DLBC Board Chairperson or another board member designated by the BOD. The Managing Director position is responsible to the DLBC BOD and terms will be further specified in a written contract.
