SENIOR PASTOR POSITION East Lake Road Alliance Church (ELRAC) 4400 East Lake Road Erie, PA 16511 ELRAC was under the leadership of a long-serving senior pastor (2001) who retired from full time ministry in 2017. We are presently seeking God for our next senior pastor to lead ELRAC into its next season of ministry. The senior pastor is responsible for the development and oversight of all church ministries with the goal of equipping the church to become devoted followers of Jesus Christ and to fulfill our mission to “lead, build, equip, and send.” The senior pastor reports to the congregation through the Board of Elders, an elected board of which the pastor is a member. There will be an annual job performance review with the Board of Elders. Qualifications and position requirements (1 Tim 3:1-7; Titus 1:6-9): • Exhibits a personal and growing relationship with God, models godly character and a teachable spirit, finds pleasure and satisfaction in worship, and has a healthy prayer life and family life • Is gifted for and called to pastoral ministry; has pastoral ministry experience and a positive track record of working well with people • Is an effective preacher, with a strong biblical and theological background • Has a passion for evangelism, outreach and prayer, to and for our community, our church, and the world • Loves people and is approachable, with skills and experience in counseling • Uses time well, is a self-motivated leader, has basic administrative skills • Is in agreement with The Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA) Doctrinal Statement and a willingness to be licensed or ordained by the C&MA. Specific duties and responsibilities: Equips members and attendees of the church to love God, make disciples and serve others by modeling and directing the church in these primary areas of ministry: Biblical preaching and teaching, discipleship, fellowship, worship and outreach. The senior pastor will also serve the church in areas of administration and planning. These responsibilities will be prioritized as follows: Biblical preaching and teaching: • Prepares and delivers biblical messages weekly in two Sunday morning services • Has a strong commitment to expository preaching • Pursues personal growth by appropriate reading, attending leadership conferences, etc • Teaches classes when appropriate • Leads the congregation in Communion each month • Does pre-marital counseling, conducts wedding ceremonies and funerals Discipleship and Fellowship: • Visits formally and informally with members and attendees in order to get to know them so as to offer spiritual direction and biblically-sound counsel as well as to evangelistically explain the gospel where appropriate. • Gives priority to his relationships with the pastoral and administrative staff, team leaders and the Board of Elders, caring for and equipping them as appropriate for the work to which they all are called. • Helps organize small groups, classes, special events and others programs to foster deeper relationships within the church body. Worship: • Maintains a personal worship life and prays regularly for the church and its ministries Ministry: Outreach and Leadership • Oversees, leads, and guides the pastoral staff and directors. He will be responsible to ensure that all staff, pastoral and otherwise, fulfill the requirements of their job descriptions. • Promotes spiritual growth and ministry through active participation in existing and new church ministries. • Assists in planning and implementation of community and missions outreach with the appropriate teams. • Helps equip church members and attendees to serve others outside of the congregation. • Develops and supervises an administrative staff team. • Represents the church in community and denominational events. • Other duties as assigned and mutually agreed upon. Compensation: Compensation will include salary, vacation time, travel, housing allowance, professional development allowances, and a benefit package including health insurance and retirement contributions. Staff: ELRAC supports its ministries with a paid staff consisting of: • Senior Pastor • Assistant Pastor of Administration • Director of Worship • Director of Children‘s Ministries • Director of Youth & Student Ministries • Office support staff Location: Erie, Pennsylvania, a metropolitan area of 280,000 residents, is a major service, tourism, medical, and industrial center on Lake Erie’s Presque Isle Bay and is located two hours from Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Buffalo.
