POSITION SUMMARY: The Children’s Director/Pastor will be responsible for the spiritual leadership and operational oversight of infant thru fourth grade (infants - 4th grade). ? Pervasive love for Christ that permeates every aspect of their life ? Understands the “abide/abound” rhythm to vocational ministry – lasting fruit flows from vital union with the True Vine ? Models a posture of servanthood – “carry the towel” (John 13) ? Leader of leaders – has the ability to cast vision, set goals, and mobilize a leadership team to accomplish those goals ? Connects comfortably and easily with children and parents ? Possesses a mind and heart that obviously has been saturated in Scripture ? Passion for the lost; sees beyond the walls of the church ? Organized and efficient in communication with parents, leaders, and staff ? Ability to plan/coordinate/organize projects & events (i.e. Christmas, Easter, Father/Son, Mother/Daughter…etc) ? Experience – has served in at least one other church ministry environment ? Theologically trained – Bible/theology/ministry degree (Bachelor or Masters) The Children’s Director/Pastor must, above all else, love God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength. They must radiate the reality that Christ is their LIFE. Additionally, the Children’s Director/Pastor should be highly motivated to mobilize teams of leaders for all aspects of the ministry and be effective in creating optimal environments for children to connect with God – for the purpose of leading children to passionately follow Jesus. The Children’s Director/Pastor will contribute leadership among the larger body at Eagle Church in various capacities as opportunities emerge. This person needs to be a visionary, a strong communicator, have the ability to lead teams of people, self-motivated and have strong interpersonal relational skills. • Full time • This role will work closely with the Eagle Preschool Director. RESPONSIBILITIES Spiritual Leadership • Maintain a heart that is full and fresh of the love of Christ that permeates every aspect of life • Understand the “abide/abound” rhythm to vocational ministry – lasting fruit flows from vital union with the True Vine (John 15) • Model a posture of servanthood – “carry the towel” (John 13) • Have a passion for the lost; see beyond the walls of the church (local and global missions) • Immerse heart and mind in Scriptures • Pray consistently for children, parents, and families with children from birth to 4th grade • Listen to God’s voice in providing overall direction for the spiritual development of these young children • Prioritize the presence of God & being present with people over all the programs • Display an obvious love for people Operational Oversight • Work with Student Pastor and Eagle Preschool Director to develop a cohesive, Christ-centered vision for the early childhood and elementary school aged ministry at Eagle • Obtain and build into Team Leaders for each age level that will help with ownership and engagement on the vision and values of the early childhood ministry • Read, edit, and implement a curriculum which allows our infants - 4th grade aged children to flourish spiritually • Teach volunteer leaders how to use the curriculum and establish guidelines & expectations for their role in implementing the curriculum • Communicate consistently, effectively, and passionately with parents regarding the spiritual develop-ment and care of their children • Responsible for all aspects of the Children’s Ministry including: recruiting volunteers, equipping volun-teers, child-care for designated programs and services, safety procedures in place and being followed, assuring preschool rooms are staffed, in proper order and age appropriate • Work collaboratively with Preschool Director to share space effectively and efficiently • On Sunday morning, ensure all rooms are staffed and have all necessary tools to carry out that day’s ministry • Work with Student Ministry Pastor to contribute to and maintain a consistent direction for the overall ministry through strategic planning and collaboration • Celebrate Christlike character development in children and parents • Keep the missionary heart of God before children and families • Maintain policies and procedures for program operation • Propose and oversee the children’s ministry budget • Plan and organize “Baby Dedication & Baby Dedication Brunch” events throughout the year • Develop a “new parent” program to celebrate and equip families entering this chapter of their lives • Communicate “visitor information” to Team Leaders & Eagle Kids Support staff and work collaboratively on follow up of new families • Responsible for organizing childcare and child centered activities for church wide events/gatherings (ie. Summer Bash, Congregational Meeting, Worship Nights, Prayer Week, etc..) _______________________________________________________________________________________ QUALIFICATIONS: • It is desired that the candidate has experience in working with infants - 4th grade • A degree in early childhood or elementary education or in theology/children’s ministry would be helpful - but not necessary to apply ACCOUNTABILITY: • The Children’s Director/Pastor will receive direct supervision from the Associate Pastor • The Children’s Director/Pastor will be indirectly accountable to the Lead Pastor and Elder Board
