Church Planting Pastor—Job Description River of Life Alliance Church Description: River of Life is a church of about 300 located in Grand Junction, CO that desires to daughter a church in the Grand Valley. We are seeking a Church Planting Pastor who will plant a new daughter church from ROL. The Grand Valley is home to nearly 150,000 people that boasts a great quality of life, yet there is great spiritual need. The Church Planting Pastor will adopt the Central Region of the C&MA’s church planting approach, moving the plant through the planning, preparation, development and accreditation phases. ROL is open to creative staffing solutions that may alter this job description (i.e. co-lead, bi-vocational, fundraising, part-time, etc.). ROL will temporarily subsidize this position along with the MidAmerica District church planting grant. A mature Christian modeling I Timothy 3:1-7 (Elder qualities) and Galatians 5:22,23 (Fruit of the Spirit) character. 2. Commitment to the Great Commission. 3. Strong calling to church planting. 4. Proven lifestyle that displays a heart for reaching the unchurched. 5. Demonstrated success in leading and building ministry. 6. Entrepreneurial aptitude and creativity. Willingness to be creative and flexible in course changes that may arise regarding compensation/timelines/mechanics. 7. A gift for shepherding/pastoring. 8. Willingness to empower co-laborers and share in their accomplishments. 9. Deep desire to be a church-planting church that is part of a church planting movement across Colorado’s Western Slope and the U.S. C&MA. 10. Licensed or able to be licensed by The Christian and Missionary Alliance. 11. Agreement with Christian & Missionary Alliance doctrine and mission. 12. Preferred church planting experience, but not mandatory. 13. Preferred minimum 2-3 years of pastoral church ministry. Responsibilities (First 3-5 years) 1. Lead and shepherd, in partnership and collaboration, out of an overflow of a deep and abiding relationship with Jesus Christ. 2. Lead and develop a visionary and strategic leadership in conjunction with ROL and the Mid-America district. 3. Build and create a church planting launch and core team. 4. Lead the church plant launch and core teams to develop strategic plans and yearly ministry action plans to accomplish church plant’s mission. (Strategy: engaging the lost, discipleship, leadership development; Structures: supporting elements i.e. financial/administrative) to be effective and efficient. 5. Partner with, oversee, shepherd, and manage the church plant leadership team to be effective spiritual leaders and servants. 6. Champion Leadership Development by implementing a church-wide plan for raising up leaders. 7. Serve as the Lead Pastor of the church plant with a willingness to equip others in preaching, teaching and worship. Reports to: 1. ROL Elders and Governing Board (initially)—vision, spiritual direction and initial hire, retains hiring/firing. 2. Advisory Team (1-2 years)—supervisor and implementation. 3. Church plant leadership (after accredited).
