Phillipsburg Alliance Church, Phillipsburg, NJ Associate Pastor/Worship Leader Position summary: The individual selected will assume the duties of the Senior Pastor when he is absent. The individual will report directly to the Senior Pastor, assisting him in all of his duties as requested and all other responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Pastor. The individual will serve as the Worship Team leader guiding an existing team of gifted individuals, selecting songs to align with the Pastor's message for each service. In the capacity of Worship Team Leader they must be competent in a musical instrument and/or singing and be present for and lead worship team rehearsals for services. Experience: • A minimum of three years pastoral service which could be service as an intern to meet the requirements of a degree program. • Experience on a worship team, preferably in a leadership role. Spiritual and moral qualifications: Must be above reproach, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. They must manage their own family well (if married) and see that their children obey them with proper respect. They must not be a recent convert. Spiritual Development: A mature, dedicated Christian who has felt God’s call to this field of ministry. The Associate Pastor/Worship Team Leader must demonstrate high level of spiritual maturity expressed in daily application of Biblical truths through sermons, teaching, counseling and disciplining. They must express passion for the lost, clear vision for the Church body and effective leadership skills. Specific examples of responsibilities that may be assigned by the Senior Pastor (other than those noted under position summary): • Participate in staff meetings and training, as well as denominational events • Oversee the church web site and social media sites, including development of new technological means for outreach and evangelism • Coordination of small group programs • Overseeing the work of the Board of Deacons- Coordination of a visitation ministry to ill and shut-ins. • Maintain active communication with the church body, including a monthly newsletter • Provide initial counseling services, e.g., pre-marital, marriage, grief, spiritual. • Respond to congregant emergency situations • Maintain close contact with church families and adherents through regular contacts (visitation, email, texting, telephone). • Follow-up with church visitors • special note: this is not intended to provide exhaustive list of possible duties or responsibilities Position status: Full time
