Community Alliance Church in Butler, PA POSITION: Junior High Pastor: 6th through 8th Grade This position requires a person who is highly relational and able to develop significant relationships with 6th through 8th graders inside and outside the Thursday evening program as well as develop adult leaders who invest and impact 6th through 8th graders. The job also involves being a part of CAC’s Senior High ministry which takes place on Sunday evenings. This position will report to and work, in a team environment, with the Youth Pastor who oversees grades 6-12. Characteristics: • High energy • Thrives in a team environment • Desire to improve professionally and personally • Highly relational with children and adults • Ability to resolve conflict through open, honest conversation • Creatively looks at challenges and finds solutions to those challenges Core Competencies: • Interpersonal Skills o Able to build strong, deep relationships with leaders and youth o Able to resolve conflict by having open, two-way conversations o Maintains confidentiality o Listens well and seeks to understand others • Teamwork o Exhibits openness to others' views o Contributes to building a positive team spirit o Values others’ gifts and skills; maintains a positive outlook of others and their ministry o Able to work well under direct supervision of the Director of Youth Ministry o Gives input, both favorable and unfavorable in order to improve the team • Teachable o Welcomes and implements input and feedback o High level of self-awareness and able to honestly assess where improvement is needed in the ministry and in personal issues o Responds well to input and thinks critically through issues • Ethics o Always treats all people with respect o Doesn't talk about people to others but goes directly to them to resolve issues • Professionalism o Accepts responsibility for own actions o Follows through on commitments o Able to deal with crisis and unexpected events Responsibilities Program - Thursday Night Live (TNL) • Along with Youth Pastor, develop strategy for 6th ,7th and 8th grade that fits within overall youth strategy • Be the prominent speaker most Thursday evenings • Develop an interesting and inviting, seeker friendly program each week during the school year • Design weekly game time and teaching time to engage kids and teach them • Interact with kids as well as adult leaders during program time • Design roles for adults involved in program to enable them to impact 6th through 8th graders on Thursday nights and at other events • Handle discipline problems with children • With assistance from the Youth Pastor, resolve conflict with children as well as parents • Oversee large events designed to increase participation and build relationships • Oversee publicity for the congregation and ministry families for events Sunday Morning Ministry • Develop plan and prepare weekly to teach Biblical principles to kids • Teach each Sunday morning • Build relationships with kids during Sunday mornings specifically utilizing time before and after class • Recruit adult leaders to help build relationships with kids and teach occasionally Senior High Ministry • With direction from Youth Pastor, participate in various ways on Sunday evenings • Engage students and leaders during Sunday evenings and develop relationships with specific individuals throughout the week • With direction from Youth Pastor, teach Senior High students 4-6 times per year on Sunday evening Volunteers • Recruit, enlist, train and mentor adult leaders to play a key role in this program • Conduct training for all TNL volunteers Budget • Ensure ministry stays within budget for TNL area • Maintain records, receipts and fill out all appropriate forms on time • Track ministry expenses as needed and plan for entire year Qualifications • An official worker of the C.M.A. or willing to pursue licensing and / or ordination • Should have knowledge of Microsoft Office software and other relevant technology.
