Name of Church: Lancaster Alliance Church Church location description: Growing Alliance Church with a passion to reach people for Christ through youth ministry is looking to hire a fulltime Outreach and Youth Pastor. Lancaster Alliance Church is located in the growing city of Lancaster with many unique amenities and opportunities. Seven different school districts are a part of the current youth ministry as well as several private schools. Join a pastoral team of three others and a support staff of ten in serving the Lord in a church that placed high value on reaching youth. Lancaster is a city of 60,000 in the center of a county made up of 250,000 people. Tourism continues to be a major influence on the area. There is a strong arts and music community as well as the home of Franklin and Marshall College, Millersville University, Lancaster Bible College, and The Art Institute. A minor league baseball team, the Barnstormers, makes their home here as well. Major industries including Kelloggs Cereals, Nissan Asian Food, Mrs. Paul Frozen Foods, Hershey Foods, Utz Chips, Herrs' Snack Foods and Rich Food Productions are located in the county. Title of job position: Outreach & Student Ministries Pastor Full/part time: Full Time Exempt Contact: Send cover letter and resume to: Employment@lancastercma.org The Ideal Candidate: This individual will have demonstrated experience with outreach initiatives and student ministries, be able to mobilize volunteer leaders, have ability to connect well with students and parents, and approach ministry from a team-oriented perspective. In addition, the ideal candidate must at a minimum: 1) have a 4-year college degree, 2) be in the Alliance accreditation process, and 3) have served as a staff pastor for 5+ years. Requirements/qualifications: The primary responsibility of this individual is to give general oversight to LAC’s outreach initiatives as well as student ministries. This role also requires investment in personal spiritual formation and focused discipleship of students (grade 5 through high school), staff leadership, leader multiplication, volunteer mobilization, and interface with parents and family members. It is the intention of the church to encourage an integrated approach to ministry which does not exclusively segregate students from the intergenerational ministry of the church. Consequently, this position requires a team oriented individual. Qualifications • Must evidence a mature spiritual life and patterns of growth and discipline consistent with a leader in the church as required by the scriptural instruction in I Timothy 3:1-7 (elder qualities) and Galatians 5:22,23, (Fruit of the Spirit). • Must be (or commit to become) a licensed worker in the Christian and Missionary Alliance and be in convictional agreement with the Christian & Missionary Alliance confession and mission. • Must have educational preparation and training consistent with the role being assumed with a pattern of ongoing learning and enrichment in their area of expertise. This would mean the candidate will have at least a bachelor’s degree in a related field of study. • Must have minimum of 5 years of effective ministry experience in Student Ministry as part of a multiple staff church. • Must be willing to align with the current direction of the Lancaster Alliance Church and be supportive of the vision and direction of current leadership. • Must have a passion for and an ability to relate well to the cross section of students. • Must have the ability to recruit, equip, and lead an adult volunteer staff. • Must be gifted in teaching God's Word and able to contribute to the overall ministry of the church. • Must show evidence of a strong marriage relationship and a healthy dynamic with their children. Responsibilities • Oversee and direct the outreach initiatives of the church. This would be inclusive of international, regional, and local engagement for the sake of the Gospel. • Establish a strategic approach for LAC to maintain dynamic involvement in missional engagement. • Mobilize a relevant model for evangelism and then subsequent basic discipleship for new believers who are coming to Christ though personal interaction and ministry of the church. • Oversight of Student Ministries. • Conduct regular meetings with the Student Leadership team. • Actively recruit volunteers. • Plan and lead retreats for junior and senior high students. • Oversee and periodically teach at the weekly meetings. • Coordinate and lead a regular connection with student parents. • Establish a yearly ministry calendar and budget for Outreach and Student Ministries. • Explore ways of engaging students into the larger ministry of the church with intentional plans to allow students to be exposed and comfortable with intergenerational ministry and worship. • Be considered a part of the Pastoral Leadership Team and assist with leadership of the service and cooperation with the other ministries of the church. • Support the development and implementation of small group ministries within the student ministry. • Provide leadership and training for support staff (both paid and volunteer). • Assure that there is continuity and integration of the men’s ministry, women’s ministry, and any other age defined ministry within the church. • Serve as a member of the pastoral staff contributing to the overall direction of the church in cooperation with other staff members. • Occasionally preach and teach in public settings within the church. • Advise and consent on overall matters related to all ministries that touch outreach and student ministry. • Lead in the development of a sense of community within the ministry that is welcoming but also not afraid to call people to accountability for their spiritual growth and development. • Oversee interns and workers in development for the ministry of the church and beyond the church within the C&MA. • Report regularly to the Lead Pastor and Church Leadership Team (CLT) giving progress on mutually agreed upon plans and directions. • Meet weekly with the lead pastor to pray and set direction for outreach and student ministries. • Assists with wedding, funerals, hospital or home visitation and other pastoral duties as required within the church staff and their responsibilities. • Provide peer input in our efforts to integrate and cooperate with the other age defined ministry within the church. • Relate well to non-believers and seekers and enter discipleship with them as well as long time believers. • Takes seriously the church as a sending organization and can help shepherd those who go away for a time (for school or otherwise) in maintaining their ties to a home church. • Assume other duties as requested. Accountability • The pastor for outreach and student ministries reports to the lead pastor and is accountable to the district superintendent and to the CLT through the lead pastor. • Shall participate in an annual review by the lead pastor who shall summarize the review for the CLT. • Shall submit written reports as requested. Compensation type: Salaried, health coverage, relocation costs Church information: Church size: Average Sunday attendance is 630. Church history: Last year the church celebrated their 125th anniversary as an Alliance Church. The church was started as the result of a family who was healed at special meetings held in New York City. Many missionaries have been commissioned out of the church over the years and international missions remains a vital part of the church. Church ministry style: LAC enjoys a blended worship style. Youth ministry is divided by a 56 group of grades five and six, middle school and high school groups. The youth pastor has general oversight of all youth ministries and would work with a volunteer staff of 12. Currently, there is a part time administrative assistant working in youth ministry.
