Senior Pastor, who can work with one or two full-time staff
The Alliance Midwest District
Pastoral Expectations Profile (April 2021) Connexion is a staff led, elder protected congregation with a leadership team that takes care of administrative duties. Therefore, we are looking for a Discipler who is a Visionary Leader that Develops Leaders. We would expect this man to spend the majority of his time working on the ministry (equipping and organizing others) not in the ministry (doing it all himself). We are looking for an accomplished Expository Preacher in style (versus a teacher) to speak 3 times a month. We would expect the man to bathe our congregation and community in Intercessory Prayer. With the forementioned strengths, the church would expect the development of adult discipleship tracts which would equip people to be evangelists, shepherds and care givers for the congregation. We would like to start with an assimilation process which leads people into various volunteer ministry opportunities such as small groups, worship, building design, children, and youth ministries. Connexion’s Greenhouse Program (developing healthy vocational ministers) is a key component to Connexion’s ministry which requires pastoral involvement. We would expect an intimate, growing relationship with Christ that is revealed in godly character, a healthy relationship with his wife, children, and others. Our hope would be to find a leader with the energy and capacity to keep up with Connexion’s ever-growing family. Church Vision, Mission, & Values Connexion Church is a body of Christ that lives life together, for each other, and for Him. We share joy, pain, happiness and sorrow together. We lean on each other and rest in the knowledge that through God all things are made good. We are a group of imperfect people trying desperately to live out God’s perfect plan and sharing in all the joys and struggles of living life for Jesus. We believe our God is on mission to renew and to restore the world. At Connexion Church, we want to connect people to Jesus and engage them in this mission. Through the life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus, everything broken by the curse of sin and death will be made new again. As we await the glorious hope of His return and renewal of all things, there is peace in knowing God’s restorative Kingdom has broken into this world of corruption and decay. Vision - “We have a shared mandate to give every man, woman and child in Vermilion County and beyond a repeated opportunity to encounter the gospel of Jesus Christ and to disciple those who respond.” Mission - “In God’s power, we are working to connect people to Jesus Christ and to engage them in his mission of reaching the lost, equipping the people of God and caring for all.” Core Values - Through dependency on the Holy Spirit, we commit to building a body that values: Intimacy with Christ (John 15:1-17), Maturing in the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:16-26), Godly Community (Acts 2:42-47), Practicing our Spiritual Gifts (1 Corinthians 12:1-11, 27-31), Impacting Others (1 Peter 2:11-17), and Multiplication (Matthew 28:18-20).
