Assistant Pastor- Next Generation & Worship Emphasis Overview: The Assistant Pastor (AP)- Next Generation & Worship Emphasis at Coudersport Alliance Church (CAC) is called to pastoral ministry specifically related to the next generation and worship ministries but also ministry to the greater church. CAC considers next generation ministries to be comprised of children, infant through high school ages, with a particular emphasis on our youth ministry. The worship ministry at CAC takes place primarily on Sunday mornings but extends outwardly in developing a worship culture throughout the church. While primary responsibilities will be related to next generation and worship ministries, the AP will work closely with the Lead Pastor (LP) to help develop a cohesive discipleship strategy for people of all ages at CAC. One significant role of the position is to create a healthy model and system for volunteer leadership development and multiplication within the Youth, Kids and Worship Ministry contexts. It is a full-time salaried position. Requirements: The AP candidate will be licensed in good standing with Christian & Missionary Alliance (C&MA). CAC would also prefer that the candidate be ordained within the C&MA or actively pursuing ordination with the denomination. The candidate must have theological training either via undergraduate (bachelors minimum) or graduate level studies within institutions that align with C&MA doctrine. The candidate will display a working knowledge of current next generation ministries and cultural trends, a firm biblical understanding, and a healthy level of self and others awareness. The candidate will also demonstrate a proficiency in leading and developing a worship culture. A proven track record of solid leadership development and the ability to create and empower high functioning teams are a must as our ministries are highly volunteer driven. Additionally, a solid working knowledge of the technical aspects (i.e., Planning Center, Breeze Church Management Systems, Google Docs, website management and social media etc.) of church ministry as well as administrative gifts are necessary. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in either a local church or para- church ministry context. Reporting Structure: The Assistant Pastor will report directly to CAC’s Lead Pastor who reports to the Elder Team. Reporting to the AP will be the Kids Ministry Co-Leaders, Youth Ministry Co-Leaders and Worship / Tech Ministry Leaders (all currently volunteer positions). Qualifications: In addition to excellent communication and organizational skills, the Assistant Pastor possesses a/an: • Vibrant and visible personal relationship with Jesus • Clear gifting and ability to develop leaders • A clear gifting for developing healthy, relevant and Christ-centered youth and children’s ministries • Demonstrable proficiency and passion for creating a worship ministry and culture • Commitment to develop faithful disciples of Christ who go on to develop new disciples • Passion to reach individuals who are un-churched or have turned away from faith in Jesus • The ability to both support and live out the Vision and Mission Statements of CAC • Enthusiasm for serving God and others with humility and a genuine heart for the community Job Description: The Assistant Pastor- Next Generation & Worship Emphasis is responsible for the following: 1. Next Generation Ministries- Youth & Kids (50% of position) a. Create a vibrant and growing Youth Ministry for both middle school and high school students that supports the overall mission, vision, and values of CAC b. Oversee and support Kids Ministry Co-Leaders as they create a healthy and growing Kids Ministry which also supports the overall mission, vision, and values of CAC c. Develop an effective system for identifying, training, and empowering volunteer Youth Leaders who can successfully execute all the main leadership components of the Youth Ministry d. Provide support to Kids Ministry Co-Leaders as they identify, train, and empower volunteer leaders to serve within Kids Ministry environments e. Provide tangible support to Kids Ministry Co-Leaders in the planning, creating, and leading of the annual CAC Vacation Bible School program f. Equip volunteers and students to effectively share the gospel of Jesus with others g. Create and foster a healthy sense of community, belonging and family within the ministries 2. Worship Ministry (25% of position) a. Create a vibrant and growing worship ministry and worship culture that supports the overall mission, vision and values of Coudersport Alliance Church b. Develop an effective system for identifying, training, and empowering new Worship and Tech Ministry volunteers for both the worship and tech teams c. In conjunction with LP, create weekly engaging worship experiences for the whole church d. Ensure the proper recording and uploading of weekly worship services 3. Pastoral & Administrative Responsibilities (25% of position) a. Provide pastoral care on a limited basis, knowing when to refer individuals to a counselor b. Preach at Sunday services as needed (every 6 weeks on average) c. Assist with church-wide events / initiatives as needed d. Maintain and ensure the accuracy of all CAC website and social media content e. Manage kids and youth ministry database including attendance, follow-up, and event registrations The Win: Creating healthy, Christ-centered and engaging Next Generation and Worship Ministries in support of CAC’s overall Vision and Mission will be the primary goal of this position.
