Youth/Student Ministries

Central Pacific District C&MA

Thanks for your interest in the Assistant Pastor of Youth Ministry position at Risen King Community Church. This is a full-time role starting at $42,000/year plus benefits. Starting date will vary according to availability, but this is an immediate opening and we are looking to hire the right person as soon as we find him or her! Risen King Community Church is located in Redding, California, a community of about 90,000 people halfway between Sacramento and the Oregon border. With Mt. Shasta and Shasta Lake to the north, Lassen Volcanic National Park to the east, Whiskeytown Lake to the west, and mountains on three side, it’s a beautiful place to live. Outdoor recreation opportunities abound, and the lower cost of living, smaller town feel, and relaxed pace of life make it a great place to live and raise a family. Risen King is a Christian and Missionary Alliance church that started in 1990. We were heavily influenced by the renewal movements of the late 80’s and 90’s, and to this day maintain a high value for the presence and work of the Holy Spirit. We likewise have a high value for God’s Word. We believe in and prioritize the healing work of Jesus for our whole lives: body, mind, soul and spirit. Our church facilities are located on 50 acres of land on the north side of Redding, 10 of which have been developed so far. Pre-COVID, average weekly attendance was between 350 and 400. Post-COVID attendance remains to be seen! (We have been meeting in person since mid-January and are still seeing people each week who are back for the first time since before the pandemic.) At Risen King, we are about transformation through relationships. The goal of this transformation is to look like Jesus. We want to see his character formed in us. As a part of this transformation process, we are excited to see people saved, healed, set free, restored and reconciled. We believe that transformation happens in and through relationships: with God, with one another, and with people and the world around us. As we are coming out of the coronavirus season, we are excited to be relaunching our church and its ministries. This includes our ministries to junior high and high school students. We look forward to a future in which we are increasingly more effective at reaching our students, their friends, and the youth of our community with the transforming message and power of the gospel. We see a thriving youth ministry as a necessary component of a healthy and growing church, and believe that finding the right person to serve as our youth pastor will help position us well for a bright future! The right person for this role is someone who: • Has a vibrant and growing personal relationship with Jesus • Experiences the power and presence of God in their life and ministry • Is excited about Risen King and where God is taking us as a church family • Aligns with Risen King’s purpose, priorities, and theology • Shares the values of our church, including a commitment to the Bible as our highest authority and a passion to see God’s Kingdom come in power • Has a calling for, training in, and experience in youth ministry • Has vision to develop thriving junior high and high school ministries • Loves junior high and high school students and their families • Will count it a privilege to influence junior high and high school students to follow Jesus faithfully and boldly • Is able to recruit and lead a team of volunteers • Is a self-starter who takes initiative to set goals and execute action plans to accomplish those goals • Is able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously If interested in applying for this position, please contact Janet Spriggs at and an application will be emailed to you.
