Other Church Ministry Roles
Within local churches there are other full- and part-time roles. A person may serve as a lay pastor, disciplemaking director, administrator, music director, etc. They are unordained personnel who are members of a local Alliance church and serve in these positions.
- Lay Pastor
A lay pastor is a worker who has full-time secular employment or who is retired, and has no intention of entering full-time Christian ministry, but is appointed to pastor an Alliance church. A lay pastor (vocational) certificate is issued at the discretion of the district office. In some cases, lay pastors may enroll for leadership training through the Alliance’s Church Leadership Academy.
- Music/Worship Ministries
The importance worship and music ministry in the local church can not be overstated. Many of our larger churches have staff positions to give leadership in the area of worship and music. Those who serve in these roles should meet the general requirements for licensed ministry and demonstrate appropriate training and experience in this area.
- Disciplemaking Ministries
The Alliance wants to see healthy disciples in every Alliance church at every age level (children, youth, adult). How is that accomplished? By encouraging, training, and providing resources for district and local church leaders, teachers, and workers so that YOU are equipped to make disciples.
