The Alliance: Living the Call Together

Serve with The Alliance; Connect your passion with God's Purpose

The Application Process

Steps to Serving with the Alliance

If you believe God may be leading you to serve Him through ministry with The Christian and Missionary Alliance, we invite you to take the next step in exploring a relationship with us. The development process consists of five main steps:

Step 1: Connecting with the C&MA

Get to know the C&MA's values, people, and mission. We are here to answer your questions. Take five minutes to tell us your story. Take the Next Step.

Step 2: Spiritual, Character, and Ministry Development

After you tell us your story, someone from the C&MA will contact you. We will help you develop a plan to further prepare you for ministry. We encourage you to identify a coach (locally) who can invest in your spiritual formation, character development, and ministry skills. The C&MA is committed to providing helpful resources to your coach. Depending where you are in your training and life experience, this process can last from a week to a few years.

Step 3: Application

When you are ready, we will lead you through a formal application process to become an accredited candidate for ministry with the C&MA. This step usually is taken during your senior year of college or later. You will complete the Application for Alliance Ministries online. This includes a personal questionnaire, a doctrinal questionnaire, character references, inventories, and several other forms depending on your ministry interest. You can complete the application in a few sittings over several weeks or at a more gradual rate during the summer or the school year. The doctrinal questionnaire is the most challenging. Some complete this as a part of their training. It is a great way to affirm what you believe and why.

Step 4: Accreditation

After completing the application, you will have an accreditation interview with C&MA staff to assess your character, calling, and readiness for ministry as an official worker with The Alliance. The interview is held in a convenient location and lasts about two hours. (Please note that for various reasons, not everyone is approved for vocational service with the C&MA. Our desire is to help you find your place in God's work.)

Step 5: Placement

Once accredited, we will work with you to identify a role and place of service in the United State or overseas depending on your interest, calling, and skills. If you are accredited as a missionary candidate you will work directly with the missionary candidate, staff in International Ministries of the C&MA to further your preparation as a missionary. If you are interested in U.S. ministry, we will connect you with our district offices.
